Groundhog Day: Inside the NCAA bubble with Clemson basketball

Groundhog Day is a 1993 movie starring Bill Murray in which his character, a TV weatherman, becomes trapped in a time loop, forcing him to relive February 2nd repeatedly. At least until he gets the day right, which breaks the loop. Brad Brownell and the Clemson basketball team are living through Groundhog Day inside the NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis. Full Story »

I would not surprised if the first 2 days of games are either lousy for both teams or one or the other just makes every shot. The amazing thing to me is the awesome job that the NCAA is doing in schedules. Can you imagine trying to get 68 teams in the right place at the right time and have practice time for all of them? The logistic folks are earning their money this week for sure.

What is with you people?

Why does everything you don't like have to be labeled an excuse?

If you can't see how this weird, restrictive setup of having players essentially trapped in their hotel rooms most of the day, with their only "free time" being the limited practice or meeting time they get, could possibly impact their play, then you're very naive.

As Brownell said yesterday, it's the same for everyone. He's not making excuses. None of us are. But you can't deny that this prison-like situation might impact the way some players/teams play later this week.

I second JK on this. Nothing about his tone or what he said seemed like an excuse to me, more informational.
