What happened to the wide receivers?

Oct 24, 2021, 8:03 AM

Some of our wide receiver was has been here a couple years. Is it just me or have they regressed? These guys didn’t just forget how to catch a football. I don’t know if this is a lack of chemistry with Dj a coaching issue or what. But it’s clear to me these receivers and Dj has regressed.

At least for yesterday

they were pretty much all out. Williams, Ngata, Ladson, Spector and Taylor.

That said, we need a few smaller guys with burst

Coaching, coaching and coaching. We went from Wide Receiver U to Wide Receiver Phew. I’m in no way putting down our players, our coaches have had since spring to get our team in gear. I’m confident (hopeful) Dabo sees what everyone else has seen and makes the needed changes at seasons end. For now, one game at a time, beat FSU and win the State Championship.

It seems to me that NONE of the current veteran receivers

we have, even Ngata, has proven to be that guy that does it week in, week out. Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers were the last two of those. The newbies may yet turn out to be good, but no one has made an immediate positive impact.

Can’t catch and won’t block. Not sure what good they are at this point. Run the ball.

Grisham…

Look at their lackluster route running and the drop issues. When is the last time you saw a Clemson WR round off his route or develop gator arms over the middle.

Yeah, the gator arm thing in the 4th Q was horrible. Why is the guy on the field if he doesn't want to catch the ball? Too worried about the defender.

Injured or just aren't that good yet. Those issues coupled with a QB with a ways to go to be adequate.

While the receivers can go a better job of getting open, DJ

Oct 24, 2021, 8:53 AM

needs to do a much better job of putting the ball in the right spot, at the right time! And know when to zip it, and know when to put some touch on it. In other words, making it much more catchable!

I heard Tom Luginbill talking about the ACC quarterbacks before the season started, and he said though DJ had a big arm, he was concerned about his accuracy. He was on the money on that!

They just are not very good.***

At rate they are going, low round draft picks if drafted at all

QB/WR play is all about anticipation and timing.

DJ shows he doesn't have the capability to do either of these things so our WRs have no idea when to expect the ball. I attribute this to all our drops this year also. DJ might be the only QB ive watched all season that can't do this simple thing. When DJ throws anticipating what a receiver is going to do next he is wildly inaccurate. The WRs dont trust DJ and DJ doesn't trust his receivers.

I have no idea how anyone would have ranked him as a top college/nfl prospect. He is by far the worst QB we've had in 20+ years. We have only thrown TD passes in 3 out of 7 games this season. It's embarassing.

Jeff Scott left. And his replacement (atleast to me) appears to be in way over his head
