Why do you think this is interesting? Everyone with half a brain understands Clemson has an uphill battle in basketball recruiting. Only those casual fans who think we should fire a coach every few years have no understanding of the landscape.

So we’re playing grammar / spelling nazi now? I appreciate the correction on the number of years since that was pertinent. But, the ‘11 years = “a few”’ part of the post was clearly an interrogatory despite the lack of a question mark.

We haven’t fired a basketball coach in 24 years. Being mathematically illiterate is pretty cootish and it was 100% on topic to your comment about fans wanting to fire the basketball coach every few years.

Who was fired in 1997?!?
Rick Barnes was still our coach then, and didn’t leave until 1998.
Shyatt “resigned” in 2003, but he was asked to resign so I’d consider that a firing.

You’re right. I did a quick Google search for Larry Shyatt / Clemson and I was looking at his years as an assistant. My apologies and thank you for the correction. So it’s been 18 years which I still don’t think qualifies as “a few” to any reasonable person.

Do you really think that firing a coach is a GOOD thing?
I mean, Wake has FIRED 3 coaches (ok, 2 were fired, Bzdeelik 'resigned' like Shyatt)
NC State look like it will eventually move on from Keatts soon, so that will make 3.
What is funny is that during their coaching changes (which would include a few OP years) we have made the tourney MORE than either of these trigger happy programs and for the most part finished ahead in the league. Wake is not a bottom team and NC State's program is getting Clemson-level performance out of near UNC level investment.

You are a broken record. Why do you care so much about years 1-4 when we are so much better now than we were then? If we were playing at the same level or worse, brownell wouldn’t be here. Over the last 5 years (nearly half of his tenure here) we are 5th in the ACC in wins. That is called progress and not stagnation. I hope we continue on this trajectory because there is certainly still room for progress.
And don’t give me the ACC being weak crap. Over this time period, the ACC had 2 of the last 4 national championships.
