what brand of golf ball do you prefer? I'd like to play

with a Titleist. As many as I lose, they can be a little pricey. I don't think the type of ball really improves my game. I've came to the conclusion that I am not very good. My golf game and uscjr. have something in common, they both suck.

I play with Taylormade Tour Response! Not as expensive when I loose them and the spin is less. Plus I play with a yellow ball I can see - my age is showing because I can’t see the white ball any more!

But not the new ones - the Walmart refurbished brand that sand blasts the paint off and repaints the ball. Performance is only slightly less than new, but the price is only $20 per dozen.
Before my son was born, I would buy the expensive Balata balls that were super soft, but were shot if they hit anything other than grass. It was fun to watch the ball back up on the green from 150 yards out.

White off the tee, yellow out of the woods, orange off the back of the green, white back up to the pin.

As someone who plays exclusively with the ProV1's that I find in the woods I appreciate folks like you supplementing my golf game. The club dues, lessons, and equipment are enough so any break is welcomed!

I’ve played Bridgestone e6 for years . . . economical and the low spin rate keeps it from going deeper in the “heather”.
This year I stumbled across a Srixon Q-Star Tour and loved it . . . Low spin rate also and I get ~20 yards more distance. You’ll save $10-12 per dozen over the Titleist . . .
Golf is such a “head game” . . . Hit what you like and have confidence in!!!
Just keep whacking it about!!!

Skeeta, if the Q-Star fits you that’s fine, but that ball has scored very poorly in independent ball testing like those performed by MyGolfSpy. In fact, it was among the worst in quality control issues. If you go to their website you’ll see what I mean, and you can probably find a better ball in that price range.

I like the Bridgestone E6 and played with it for a long time, but have switched to the Calloway Supersoft ball and like it a lot. I had several dozen ProVIs and gave them all away. My son had Titlest come to his facility a couple of years ago and they must have hit two hundred or more balls and did not pick up a single one. My son had a five gallon bucket almost full of once hit Balls ..... gave me a couple of dozen.

Call me crazy but I can hit a Bridgestone straighter than any other ball. Idk why.

That’s an excellent ball. Dean Snell was involved in the first iteration of the ProV1 and then left Titleist to become the chief ball design engineer for TaylorMade.

none of us ever had any money so buying golf balls was absolutely out of the question. So...we would take a plastic laundry basket over to Pickens County Country Club or Boscobel in the wee hours of the morning and clean-out their ponds for them.

Get you a box of those Polara self-correcting balls...

They advertise that the ball will correct a hook or a slice.
Of course, they aren't legal for tournament play but I have a buddy, who is a terrible golfer, and he swears by them.

I have been struggling with distance of late so I am trying the Noodle Long and Soft. It is so-so with me so I am probably thinking of going back to the one and only ball I truly like to hit, the Wilson Staff Duo. it is the softest ball that I have ever hit and has pretty good control around the green. Average price is about 22 dollars a dozen. Of course I am not good either which is why I avoid courses( no pun intended) like Augusta National, Pebble Beach and St. Andrews.

I’m a range ball kinda guy. The yellow ones tend to play the best for me because I can find them in the rough and they float.

Play with the soft callaway, bridgestone, taylormade and the ocasional srixon I find in the weeds. Several years ago next door neighbor gave me a dozen new made by Penn. Thought they only produced tennis balls. Use them, topflight and older prov1x for the tense shots over water expanses. With a bad back, replaced right hip and 74 on the odometer, feel halfway decent scoring around 100 or bit less. Cant practice sufficiently to shoot better.

Played them all over the years and ProV1 for me is the best ball but at $47 a dozen is too rich for my blood. The Taylormade TP5 and Callaway Chromesoft are also excellent but also pretty steep for everyday golfer. I play a couple of times a week and lately I have been playing Kirkland balls.
Unless you're a scratch golfer I don't think the ball makes that much difference until you've become very consistent with each clubs distance.
I shoot low 80's most of the time but if I was playing in a tournament or important club event then I might spend the money on the ProVs but otherwise I stay in the $20 range.
A great cheap ball (if you can find them) is the Srixon Distance which is around $20 for a doubledozen.
