at Corndog U? Try as I might, I can't wrap my head around that move. Him at LSU just seems too much like a Fish on a Bicycle to me. Who Dat?

I agree, I don’t think he will last two years. I do not believe that the LSU faithful will relate to him if he looses more than one game a year. What excuses will he have?

"LOSE" the Dogs of War would have. Using Loose / lose, and let / leave incorrectly are two of the most common language mistakes I see around.
But, like Steve Martin said many years ago, "Some of us have a way with the English language, and some of us.....not have way."

He is a good coach. He will be a very consistent 9-3/10-2 coach.
But he is maybe the 3rd/4th in the SEC West - maybe.
If LSU is brave enough to buy another good season, maybe he will show up in a big game. Otherwise, he will likely just stabilize LSU (Miles effect) at best to prevent a Florida-level backslide... or really a UT slide.

school, Awbarn. They occasionally scale the heights, but then slide back down to mediocrity. Then, they change Captains and repeat the same journey all over again.
One thing to remember. Bama won't always be Bama. They "wandered in the wilderness" of football mediocrity for quite a few years between the Bear Bryant era and the Nick Saban era. Stallings got them a Natty, but that was the exception rather than the rule during those times.
Bama fans have gotten so entitled now, it is REALLY going to kill them if they can't pull another Saban rabbit out of the hat when he finally retires. If that is sooner rather than later, then Kelly's odds of success at LSU jump way up, along with several other SEC West schools.

I kinda agree.
Stallings and Hootie were "looking" for every advantage at the time. And they weren't mediocre They still finished in the top 15ish or top 10 during perkins/curry... their issue there was that Auburn had Dye and they themselves were "finding" every advantage that the NCAA didn't like too. I mean even during end of that run, Arky's lone SEC west title was in part because both Auburn and Bama were both ineligible.
I think that Bama will have a good chance at a very successful post-Saban (Unlike Stallings - which had an NCAA with a backbone and the rise of the new teams (Miami, FSU, etc). So when Texas and OU jump to the SEC, I see Bama and Awwww-barn jumping to the SEC East. Maybe a Miss school swaps with Mizzou -maybe not.
So I don't see post-Saban as an item for LSU/Kelly as they will be post-Saban, new SWC in about 3 years.
I think it puts more pressure on Jimbo to win in the next 3 years otherwise AM fades once again.
And we know Kelly struggles with BV.

Personally, I don't think that he does well in the SEC. At ND he had the help of ND picked their schedule, Brian Kelly won't have that bonus at LSU, in the SEC.
I personally believe that Kelly will be another failed attempt by the LSU administration to get that right coach to put LSU up there with Bama, and UGA. In fact, I don't believe Kelly will beat Bama, or UGA during his time as HC at LSU!!!!

Agreed he is kind of a fish out of water there. But if the fans and he can tolerate each other he will do well. At his age I am not sure who will retire first him or Saban, he will not surpass Bama as long as Saban is there though he may be able to beat them once or twice.

All depends on how he recruits. If he signs top notch classes he will do fine. Same as most of the coaches at these top tier programs.

I give Kelly respect for grabbing the bull by the horns and following his dream to win a natl championship which cannot be accomplished at Notre Dame. Most of us accept our current situation, especially when they're good situations, and we are in our 50's and 60's and up.
Kelly has opened himself up to some deserved ridicule to take a shot at LSU ... whether others like it or not. He is 10 years younger than Saban, and 8 years older than Swinney. He has time.

Looking at the present coaches in the west, he's definitely behind Saban and Fisher. That's not bad if you're an independent or in the BIG12. In the SEC west it means you're staring at the lead dogs butt all day. I see him getting 3 seasons but if he loses ground to Kiffen, Venables or Sarkisian after they join up. I don't think they'll tolerate a middle of the pack program. That's provided Saban is still wanting to coach in 2025 after the expansion.

Kelly won't want to stay if he gets a better offer. I don't see him blending well with all those Cajuns. Also, despite the fact that I don't really like him at all, he seems to run a clean program and THAT will be a problem too. I think he works a year or two to build his cache, then jumps some place else, or retires to someplace nice with his pockets full of money.

big, they would move heaven and earth to keep him. And if he loses big, whatever offer he gets won't match what he got there.

He coached at a school that recruits itself, played a cake schedule, and, frankly, never did jack, other than, you know, get absolutely trucked in a couple playoff games.

He's a very good coach. He should excel with the built-in recruiting advantages at LSU.
The administration and fans obviously want to win.
My hope is that he will improve the program culture. They sure need it (in more sports than just football too).
I agree that it was surprising that he took that job though. Don't you know it shocked the Notre Dame fans when he took a job at another program?

They cannot believe ANYONE would leave them to go to another school, because they are the uncrowned BEST.
And, even though they haven't won squat in recent years, you could probably lump Texas fans into that same borgasmord.

LSU fans expect a national championship every year. That alone makes it very hard for him to be successful since Alabama, UGA, Florida and others also have the talent and similar expectations.
LSU always recruits in the top 10 and are a good transfer destination. The talent pool alone will keep them in the mix, but pretty much every team in the SEC has to catch lightning in a bottle to knock off Bama each year, or hope they have a down year (or are banged up) like what helped UGA win it last year.

recruit absolutely top shelf players at every position, except the most important one, QB. The ones they had were serviceable at best. Butt, Joe "Most Punchable Face" Burrow showed in 2019 just what they could do there with a really good one, if only for one year.

He will be able to get the kind of Talent at LSU that he would not have been able to get into South Bend. I do not see him winning the Wst any time soon with the Rosters that Bama and AtM have assembled. He would be a couple of years off from being a contender, assuming the fans do not light their torches after 1 bad season.

Not a big fan of his, but he's a proven winner who's won consistently everywhere he's been. And he recruits and LSU has never had an issue with that. The SEC West thing makes it tougher for him than other landing spots, but I think he'll succeed, maybe even sneak in a natty. LSU seems to throw one in once a decade or so
