What am I missing re comments about D yesterday

I see comments about our D being a little down yesterday, not playing great. I didn’t see it that way. One busted coverage and freak missed tackle. Seems to have been outstanding aside from that one play. Stops on 3rd. Stop on 4th. Total passing yards. Total rushing yards. I thought the D was elite….again. What am
I missing by those who say it was a down game on that side of the ball?

Not a good first half, but really good second half. Although we are still seeing the same trends with receivers running wide open in the short game.

The D is obviously not the issue though as we all know.

Good summary, I felt the same way watching it. They weren’t bad in the first half but offsides penalties were not good. Had some early challenges getting off the field on 3rd down iirc. I’d need to go back and check stats. It seemed better in the 2nd half.

For me personally, I’m so grateful our defense is as good as it is it’s hard for me to be critical of them relative to our offense. I think the coaches saw stuff they’ll work on this week.

I agree. Only other issue I saw was the multiple offsides penalties early in the game. XT played the best game of his career. D line was disruptive all game.

Listen to Venables' post game q&a.

He explains the mistakes the defense made that left those receivers wide open in the middle of the field.

Overall, a pretty good effort but not great.
