There was never any chance of Chavis coming to begin with. This is no surprise.

Not necessarily. He wants to talk to Kris Benson and see how coming to Clemson benefited him and we all know he was a #1 overall pick. Chavis and Benson are from the same high school. Also, Tyler Beede the RHP from Vandy was drafted #21 overall out of high school and you see where he is now. There's always a chance

There is a chance, but it's a slim one. MLB teams do not draft kids in the first couple of rounds unless they're pretty darn sure they will sign. You only see about one Tyler Beede ever year, or two.

Besides, any kid that turns down first round money for college, any college, is probably making a mistake. Baseball America did a 10 year study a few years ago. Most HS kids taken in the top 10 rounds that do not sign end up getting LESS money. It worked out for Beede, but he is the exception rather than the rule.

Just saw a link to Chavis' Twitter feed on the MLB site. Based on his comments, it sure looks like he intends to sign.

Chavis was the Red Sox pick for weeks, they were surprised he lasted this long in the draft... he will be in the red sox organization in a few weeks
