I can almost understand our basketball team losing.

Jul 25, 2021, 1:47 PM

There are a lot of NBA players representing other teams. But how the Hell do you lose to the French? We invented basketball. They invented crepes and the white flag. It’s possible our basketball team has less armpit hair than their wimminz but how did it happen? Seriously for anyone who watched. Did they hustle more did we whine about having to play defense? What happened? Again I didn’t watch it but did watch men’s polo women’s fencing and men’s kayaking. I also traded my Nikes in for Brooks years ago but just curious.

I hope the basketball and women's soccer lose every game. You can represent BLM as losers just like they are.

Can’t they still medal? They still can hope to have a

Because the French have 5 NBA players with one of them being the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. We don't have our best team out there, and the French have been practicing together. Our guys are just winging it at this stage. They haven't played together. We have our B team out there generally with so many of our best not in Tokyo. Last time we played France we beat them by 3 pts. They're good.

BLM is for real. Look at Chicago peace and all is good.

Ok that makes more sense than our players not wanting to win

Because they don’t want to be there. I don’t buy that. But I do buy what you’re saying they are nba players and have played together more. Thanks.

They definitely want to be there. They volunteered.

Of course the line was 12. Vegas knows where the money would go. That was a given, but the pundits and NBA experts were already talking for a few days that it could be a a loss and at the least would be a serious challenge. We lost to Nigeria and what was that spread? The spread in the Olympics is a carp shoot and meaningless. We were probably favored by 25 last time we played France and we won by 3. This game was no surprise to anyone who follows the NBA closely and who also understood the situation. Its still a team sport and our team hasn't played together. Team USA has only even had a few practices together for that matter. The French have serious talent and they have practiced together. Add that to that we don't really have our best talent there overall. Team USA should get better as we move along as they gel, but they are going against other really talented good teams. Its not 1988 anymore where the rest of the world didn't have great talent.

What the best pro's- the best college players.
I don't care if they get beat by a 100 points.
Want to be there. If your not going to send the best- why send anybody at all.
Pro Players should have never been introduced into the Olympics.
The sport was played by amateurs until the 1992 Barcelona Games.

They want to be there. Thats why they volunteer to go. They don't have to be there. Nobody forced them.

As I am very old school as to the OLYMPICS (which I used to love), kinda never liked including team games like basketball.
Run jump, throw, swim, fight, etc are OLYMPIC events. Now there are so many things --> it is too much.

I agree with you. That would be better. Basketball has been there in every Olympics since 1936 though.

So why not football and car racing? I like the old days (was that the Greeks) where it was individuals. The deal as to which country wins what is ?
Individual athletes should be the focus, not countries.

Basketball everyone plays now so that makes sense. Football wouldn't make any sense. The only reason why we have our pros out there now is because our amateurs started getting their behinds kicked.. They don't play football elsewhere generally. I agree with you. I like the individual sports...100.meter dash etc etc. Track and field is really the only events care about anyway.

BLM? LOL!!!

America has spent the last three decades exporting basketball and creating a global sport. In many ways, similar to soccer in that you only a ball and a goal/net.

Our colleges/universities have imported foreign players, the NBA has prioritized the international game.

From that perspective, NCAA basketball, AAU basketball, and the NBA leagues have been fabulously successful.

Why wouldn't you expect other countries to eventually beat us?

The NBA MVP is from Serbia and the Greek Freak who dominated the NBA Championship is from, well, Greece.

Several issues as I saw it:

Jul 25, 2021, 5:33 PM

France is pretty good, actually longer and taller than us, bothered our inside play a lot, no easy baskets. They have obviously played together much more than we have, which is usually the case in international play that we suddenly enter into with our motley assembly of talent coming out of the NBA.

Their point guard was in command the whole time and was very good. Meanwhile our point guard was...
Jru Holiday? Really?

Our talented cadre of shooters coming off long flights and not in rhythm with each other was not enough.

Pop was rotating in and out 11-12 players in an attempt to find some kind of "chemistry" on the floor.

Basketball is so much about chemistry and finding players that play well together, and we're still in search of that. It's not just about talent.

That's my take. And again, France is a very good team with plenty of talent and some really good shooters, and a very cohesive unit.
