Well, heading out in a few minutes.

May 12, 2021, 7:32 AM

Will be driving through SC tomorrow on our way to Shenandoah National Park. Thanks to all of you who gave me information about the gas situation. From what I can read it sounds like the problem is worse in "the Carolinas, Virginia and Tennessee."

Maybe I can have a great vacation. We could get to Shenandoah NP and then have to stay there a couple of weeks because there is no gas. I can think of worse ways to spend a vacation. ??

good luck. we have a California school you can visit while passing through the state. You would save gas but it isnt much to see

We're meandering. Saying off interstates most of the way.

We're going from Augusta to Newberry. Probably get on I-26 and head north into NC, then go east and bypass Asheville. taking some back roads to Marion NC.

Should be far enough away from Cootlumbia to be safe from any airborne infections.

When you leave Marion take either Hwy 80 or 226A to the BRPkwy. 80 is known as the Devils Whip and 226a hits the Pkwy at Little Switzerland. Can't lose with either one

Yep, that is the plan. The original plan was to head that way and spend the night at Little Switzerland. But, couldn't get reservations. Both motels we wanted to stay at had two night minimum.

Turn off I-26 at Hwy 74 heading toward Charlotte and then get on 221 near Rutherfordton/Forrest City and that will take you straight to Marion.

Good luck, and keep us up to date. I'm very interested to see how this goes.

Don’t worry, The Today show had someone on that

Says the gas supply is fine and not to freak out while doing a segment about how gas stations are out of gas. You’ll be fine.

We love national parks. Been vacationing in them for years. Been to all the major parks at least once. Last "major" on our bucket list is Badlands. Were going last year and had to cancel due to covid. Heading there this September.

The Badlands are cool. Great motorcycle country to the North and West of there.

With a little luck September should be perfect. Not too hot, not too cold.
