I just don't see that happening with #5 at the helm.
I hope he proves me wrong but Watson or Lawerence never had to be pulled from a game.
A win over South Carolina and ACC championship would make me happy at this point.

In the CFP era, the most that a losing team has scored is 40 (in 2015 when Alabama beat us 45-40).
The next highest is 31 (in 2016 when we beat Alabama 35-31).
Is your thought about it taking 50 points to win based on concerns about our defense? If we are as elite on defense as we claim, it shouldn’t take 50 for us to win.

We are not elite on defense number one.
Number two what has happened in years past has nothing to do with this year.
If Wake Forest can put up 38 in regulation I think Ohio St., Tennessee, Alabama, and UGA would have a field day.

They are really good.
You have a bias toward the SEC/Ohio St. it’s understandable for people who don’t pay close attention.

It will not… I repeat, it will NOT take 50 points to beat an elite team. Whether you believe it or not, our D is elite and finally getting to full strength. Wes is learning what needs to be learned and getting better every game. Clemson will beat the snot out of UNC or whoever we play in the ACC championship game. And as far as the coots go, we’ll let’s just say we will leave no doubt in that one.
And these pundits who say silly stuff like “I don’t think Clemson could win the PAC 12 this year”, well let’s just see. Give us the PAC winner in the first round of the playoffs. We will beat them up and take their lunch money! I would even say that about OSU or Mich in the B1G (aka little). And the other little 12, give me a break!
The only other teams that worry me are in the SEC. But even they have holes and weaknesses. If our coaches are any good at all, they will figure out how to exploit those weaknesses and minimize ours. Just like happened in 2016 and 2018. And if they are not up to the task, we will get beat. But the B1G, PAC and little 12 ??? … whatever… ?

2016 and 2018 were great but you can't discount 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
Our offense is the worst it's been in that stretch.
If DJ shows up I think we can beat anybody. I don't trust him to show up against the elite teams.

Tennessee
UGA
TCU
Ohio St.
If we get in the playoffs we are going up against some explosive offenses with a secondary that has been suspect at times.
We'll have to score a lot of points to beat any of those teams.

That's quite a few on every drive. Meanwhile, Tennessee's defense was porous at best giving up 567 yards of offense.
I don't think either of those defenses are nearly as talented and experienced as Clemson's this year.

we will not hit the 50 mark, we are barely hitting the 30's against acc teams.
i support Dj 100 percent and always hope every game he steps on the field, he will have a 400 yard passing game, we just don't have the ability in my opinion to do it , he's going to be mostly in the 200 plus yard range, and our receivers and play calling isn't helping to light up the board..
Trust me I wish it could happen, im always hoping the Tigers will score on every possession.

And trust me when I say this, but watch UGA (with 2 RBs that not as good as ours, A QB not as good as ours when he is having a decent game and a D almost on par with ours) beat TN like a drum and not score but in the 30s. Just watch.
Look, we will be as capable as any IF we can get the things corrected that need to be corrected (penalties, turnovers and dropped passes). Only UGA is equipped to stay in the game with us or vice versa. OSU is overrated!

Labeled a national championship game.
Defense wins championships. The team that wins will be the team whose defense travels well. We still aren't 100% on defense. In the time that leads up to the playoff games should resolve that. I'll take our healthy D over any other D in the country. By that time you'll see a Bresee that you've yet to see this year. My biggest concern will be our punter and our inability to win a game of field position that continually backs our guys up.

Neither the offense or defense we have now is what we will see in the playoffs (supposing we get the invite). We haven’t reached near full potential. We haven’t ironed out the wrinkles. We have players with the will and talent, and a coaching staff that can get the job done. Not saying we will win the championship, but beating the playoff Tigers won’t be a cakewalk. Do you seriously believe there are teams out there that can score that amazing 50 points on our defense? I think somebody pulled that imaginary number out of a hat.

Any team that gives up 53 points shouldn't be ranked in the top ten. You weight a team by judging the offenses and defenses separately and Clemson can play with anyone who gives up half a 'C' note.
You got that SEC mentality buying into all ESPiN's hype about SEC offensive prowess. Why didn't you have that when the Big 12 was serving butt to everyone postseason?
