and have you tried the Sugarless (O Sugar) type of Gatorade type drinks.
PS: Not a fisher Boy but plan to drive with Whaler JET Boat tomorrow behind the GMC RV Van from Sav to Beaufort so to put in and explore the northern waters around it..
and camp out in area and venture out again in boat. I’ll look for fish and let you know if I see any Salmon! LOL.

My grandparents used to take me fishing in Jacksonville when I was kid.
But that picture of you with the beautiful blue skies behind you made me want to be there.... at least until I got too hot!
Enjoy Spud!

Hey Spud.
Tiger from the Moncks Corner area. What landing did you use on the Wando? The landing on highway 41 is private now and have been looking for other access points.

I hate gar....Used to catch them

at dusk after a day of fishing on lake Murray. I noticed that some big old gar kept coming up close to the bank where we were throwing the fish heads/guts after cleaning our catch.
I took one of my baitcasters and added a foot long steel leader to some 15lb test with the biggest bass hook I had in the tackle box. Put a fish head on the hook and slowly dangled it in front of those gar. One would eventually grab it in his beak. Gar typically grab their food in their beak and run with it before stopping to actually eat it. Once I saw that a gar had the fish head in his mouth I'd press on the "cast" button and let him run with it. Once the line stopped going out I knew the gar was eating the fish head. Once the line started to go out again I'd yank like hell hoping to hook some part of him.
I caught quite a few that way - some big ones. Most of the time I could manage to get the hook out of them and would leave the gar on the bank. Funny thing - left 3 of them out on the bank for about 18 hours and assumed they were dead. Nope - grabbed two of them by the tail to throw them back in the water and the darn things moved. Went to the boat shed got an axe and whacked their heads off and threw them back in the lake. I hate gar....

wish I had it on a video - got him to the pier and he was too long to go in the net & I couldn't get him from the head or tail - he got balanced on either side and flipped off the metal sides and off the hook, went over my head and I swung the net around my back about waist-high and he somehow went headfirst into it

Do you normally fish back towards 41 or head up river from paradise? Looking to try the upper Wando and have never been up there. Fish out of bulls bay around price creek on north side of capers. Excellent structure three turns in from the first creek off the ocean
