Well, I bet Tiger takes that shirt he wore today and stuffs

Apr 8, 2022, 7:03 PM

it so far in the back of the closet, it will never see daylight again. He literally made nothing outside a couple of feet all day, seemed like. That he will make the weekend is a testament to his chipping game.

Lucas will also play the weekend, looks like he made the cut "on the number" as they say.

Scheffler is trying to run away with it today. If this was Saturday, I would say it is his tournament to lose. Butt, many a Friday lead has gone the way of the Dodo at Augusta National.

Tiger probably wishes he could wear red shirts every round, just saying...as far as Lucas goes,it's great to have a past Tiger around for the weekend at a major to follow and pull for

Figured that early tee time might have allowed Lucas to get a red number today.

This god-like attention to Tiger Woods is absolutely unbelievable. I could not enjoy watching the Masters today because of the endless mentioning of his name or his action. Don't know where he finishes but the PGA and CBS will definitely get a letter from or e-mail from me Monday morning. Won't mean a thing to them but I have never seen obsession like this in any sport.

You must be watching a different masters than I am. He got plenty of coverage for sure but I never once felt it was out of line with his standing in the sport. He’s arguably the best golfer ever and what he has accomplished is a minor miracle…the attention is well deserved. I think you just have something personal against him and it’s causing you to lose proper perspective.

I have nothing against Tiger but he's "arguably the 2nd best professional golfer of all time." There's no doubt in most minds that the GOAT title belongs to Jack Nicklaus. Until his 18 major wins is surpassed, he is the man to beat. You younger guys may not appreciate his game but Jack was hitting the ball the ball well over 300 yards off the tee consistently with incomprehensible technology by today's standards. So I am comfortable challenging your narrative. Go Tigers!

Even Jack said Tiger is the best.

The only reason Tiger doesn’t have 20 or more majors is because he changed his swing at least three times in his prime and he has dealt with a lot of injuries. The Masters didn’t change the course for Jack but they did for Tiger!

Tiger played against far better competition than Jack. Back when Jack was in his prime Gary Player was about the only international player. Go look at the players in the Masters this year and look at how many are from foreign countries. From every corner of the globe. We’re talking way more difficult competition.

Jack often talks about how much technology has changed the game. The ball and the clubs. Because of the changes in technology it makes average players good and good players significantly better. That also makes for more competition that Tiger has had to face.

And here’s another thing people don’t think about. Tiger has been in the spotlight since he was four or five years old. The pressure that was put on him by his father and a spotlight that was on him from a very early age by the media, especially as a minority, is insane. That is a large part of what led to the things that Tiger did in his personal life. Go read the book by Andre Agassi to get a little insight into what that is like and having a father that puts suffocating pressure on you with unrealistic expectations.

Go read about Todd Marinovich. Same type of situation. A prodigy from an early age with a suffocating and oppressive father.

Golf is an extremely difficult game to play consistently at a high-level. The best athletes in the world in every other sport want to be good at golf and very few of them are. It humbles the worlds best athletes. Yet Tiger has gone out there since he was a kid and expected to not just win every time he teed it up, but to humiliate the other players.

I think one of the problems with DJ as QB at Clemson is handling the pressure as a starter. The NFL is full of talented quarterbacks that look great coming off the bench but wither under the pressure and expectations of being the starter.

Until Tiger started having serious injury problems even with changing his swing three times he won around 25% of the tournaments he played in. That’s insane! Jack never did anything close to that. Again with less competition. And Tiger wasn’t playing the John Deere classic.and other lesser events. He was playing the biggest hardest tournaments with the deepest most competitive fields.

Another insane statistic, especially given the competition he was playing against and the most difficult tournaments on the most difficult courses, but tiger only missed like five cuts the first 10 years he was a professional. I forget the exact number but you can count on your fingers the number of cuts Tiger missed his first 10 years on the PGA tour. The best players ever miss that many cuts every year.

It’s a lot easier to set records when Jack did it because there were no expectations. Tiger from the time he was just a kid was under pressure to win more majors than Jack. Again insane pressure and expectations against much more difficult competition.

Jack was great, but tiger was better. And if you polled the hundred best golfers of the last 50 years Tiger would win comfortably.

I think Tiger is a 9-Iron away from catching Jack's Major

Apr 9, 2022, 11:16 AM

record. That 9-Iron being the one Elin conked him with when she found out he was cheating on her with just about every woman in sight. The club destroyed his public image, took away his aura of invincibility, and it took him TEN+ YEARS to win another Major after that. The injuries have pretty much taken away any chance of him surpassing Jack's Major total record.

Jack is just like Michael Jordan in one regard. The GOAT will never come right out and say they think they are the GOAT. They leave that conversation to other people. (Sorry Lebrun, you ain't the GOAT, and never will be.)

Another record Jack owns, which he doesn't even like to talk about, is runnerup finishes in Majors. He owns that record by a HUGE margin, having finished 2nd a staggering 19 times, in addition to the 18 he won. The nearest to that is Arnold Palmer, with 10 2nd place finishes.

Jack was my favorite golfer growing up…but LC Tiger is correct…Jack never played against the same level of competition. If there was a way to put them head to head in their prime with equivalent equipment…no doubt in my mind that Tiger wins easily. Not trying to take anything away from Jack at all, who I think is/was an overall better person and someone to be admired for his life on AND off the course…Tiger can’t say that.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Tigers play today.***
