I love how people are giving me a thumbs down on my post. I thought it would be funny even for the sunshine pumper, DJ to the end of time people.

on TNet, and I suspect most of us want the best-qualified person filling the positions.
While we may want all of our personnel to succeed, no doubt we are realistic enough to understand that that won't always be the case. The goal is to win ball games, even if we have to replace a seasoned, yet inefficient starter.
Thus, I don't care who is our QB, as long as he can Captain our offense to victories, and since I'm not the coach, then I'll have no choice but to rely on our highly talented and highly paid staff to make the right calls as to assignments.

No disrespect intended for our older fans hartins. I used the “old fart” term mainly for those with the train of thought that no one should question this team or coaching decisions.
I’m in my forties, so I’m not exactly a spring chicken! Like you, I want this team to be placed in the best possible position to win games.
Go Tigers!!

99.9% of fans of all ages absolutely want the best players

to be starting every game.
I think the issue many have with fans throwing out criticism of the coaching staff is that those criticisms assume that we have options to believing in Dabo, his philosophy and his culture.
Some want to call it a “cult” and maybe it is in a way.
If you suffer from lack of success long enough as us “old farts”have then you tend to take the guy who brought you out of the wilderness and into the elite position Clemson has enjoyed the past decade as something worthy of cult worship.
So criticize as much as you need to to let off steam and feel better, but in the end, you must ask yourself the question ... if Dabo cannot do the job, then who do we turn to?
We got extremely lucky with Dabo. We will not be that lucky again.
So, this old fart quote Dirty Harry ... “So do you feel lucky? Do ya punk?”

I trust in Dabo, because he’s transformed this program and the Clemson brand. I went to Clemson during the Tommy West years and fully appreciate where we are now, and sure don’t want to go back to that state of football complacency. No one wants Dabo fired. No one has said they want him fired. You’d have to be an idiot to want that. But I do have the right as a fan, a graduate, and a member of IPTAY to voice legit concerns about coaching decisions or a player’s performance. So, if DJ continues on this level and he’s kept in as the starter, and we lose 3-4 games, I will not be grateful and say, “Well, it’s still better than Ken Hatfield or Tommy West”.

lose 3-4 games that perhaps we shouldn’t lose because Dabo refused to make personnel changes then I’m right there with you.
But, since I’m a cult member, I just won’t automatically assume that this will be the case.
In other words, I won’t make a pre-emptive judgement based on what might happen.
So far in Dabo’s last 5-7 years I can’t think of any games we’ve lost because he didn’t make a needed change when there was a viable option on the bench. The games we lost last year were because we had no one else to go to. We don’t win any of those games with Taisun P at QB.
This year we do have depth and options.
Dabo will make the change if DJU can’t perform. I’m confident in it.

But we'll see if he can scramble and get out of trouble cause Dabo's gonna start him. If not I'm ready for Cade, or even Hunter Helms. ####, Hunter was 6 for 10! You can't miss open people.....we won't win with the current offense, even the play calling was still vanilla, but you get that at a spring game.
Just SPOT THE BALL & LET'S GO!!!!!!!

It’s obvious who the starter will be regardless of the ability to consistently throw to a receiver or scramble out of trouble. Hopefully it doesn’t cost us the season before a change is made.

The only difference I see is he's not winded when he misses the receiver. Congratulations on his personal achievement of getting healthier but that hasn't led to better passing numbers.

Exactly right!!!! You have 2 seconds to make a decision on what you will do with the football. Run it, throw it, hand it off.
After 2+ seconds a defender is in your jock strap!!!
DW4 and Trevor could make the decision in 2 seconds or less. DJU cannot.

Losing 8-12 pounds more will permit him to have improved arm rotation which should help to improve his ability to be more accurate. 238 pounds on a 6'-4" frame is simply to heavy for a full option QB in terms of his running and passing effectiveness!

Even if he does that you think he is going to run like Deshaun, Trevor, or Cade. We would have never won this Nattys without a running QB. Think of the runs they made in those big games. We can never win a Natty maybe not an ACC with DJ. Get real.

I feel like our ceiling was higher with KB2 versus DJ. Not much higher but a little higher. Maybe that's because KB2 had more talent around him. I don't know.

KB had the same main problem as DJ in regards to reading the D and making the right option call. The difference was that KB would default to keeping the ball and potentially making a play where DJ defaults to play action in a small pocket and taking the sack. Also, I think KB was more accurate.

Here. In August, it will be 1 and half years that our staff has been aware of the fact that qb play could result in an offense so bad that it would waste two championship caliber defenses. Nothing was done between last April and August, and we will see if something will be nine this time. Dont bank on it. If DJ starts first game, we will have single digit points at halftime.

A caller on WCCP today brought up that DJ doesn't look like he even wants to be out there and I think I agree with the caller. I'm definitely not the most energetic and enthusiastic person in the world but I would like to see that out of our QB.
