We were 3 or 4 plays away from a blowout.

Miscues / Ross dropped pass / Ross Holding a penalty / erroneous hit out of bounds.
We are not able to overcome mistakes like in the past.
If we played a more disciplined game then it was a blow out
Or just run the #### ball instead of going away from it on 2 and 3

For all people will roll their eyes, you are correct. Yeah, there were some DUMB play calls at times imo, that backfired and killed drives, and of course crucial drops. But all that said, Pace and Mafah were hurting them and outside of about 4 passes DJ put the ball where it needed to be. Dabo ISNT wrong, we just don't have any explosiveness to make up for all the misses. Every drive has to be 10+ plays it seems.

I do believe that is an accurate assessment of the game. People clamoring to sit DJ. DJ has not dropped all the passes!
But Clemson did win! Go Tigers!
The hit out of bounds was dumb but we have seen many times that the flag would not have been thrown.
I think defenders are now pulling up to keep from being flagged for roughing the passer or targeting and it does give the offensive player an advantage!

People want to bench him because he is ranked #105 (out of 109 QBs with 14 attempts a game, so all non-option QBs) in yards per attempt, #101 in QB rating, #103 in touchdowns, #95 in completion percentage, and #81 in yards. He's the fourth worst QB overall in college football. You say there have been a ton of drops, but the stats don't really show that. There have been some key drops, but he doesn't have any touch on his passes and tries to break their hands. Some are going to be dropped if all you throw are slightly off bullets. Learn football please.

I also agree we're close, but the drops and the errant throws seem to last all season.
I don't know if it's going to be corrected this season.

The naysayers will say the critical catches by Ngata and Ross were on poorly overthrown balls. The supporters will say the catches and throws were just like yesteryear. Those 2 catches determined the outcome of the game regardless of which side of the equation you are on.

also wouldn't he say we could beat someone 9 times out of 10 if they played again.
Did Dabo say we are a couple of plays away from being undefeated? Thought i heard them say that last night.

We are also 3 or 4 plays away from being 6-0. It is bad this year, but not doomsday bad. Not like we lost games 35-3.

The other side is we could easily be 1-5. Just need this offense to get to just slightly below average vs god awful.

We were not remotely close to blowing them out. If those 3 or 4 mistakes go our way we probably score a handful more points and win like 23-14 or 24-14 or something. That's not a blowout. You can't assume just because we make a play for 15 or 20 yards that we will score a TD afterwards. More likely that we just stall out on the next set of downs and punt or attempt a FG.
Our offensive issues are just as much about the other 95% of the plays than those 5%.

Agree in general with the OP. What bothers me most is the 2nd and 3 call when we KNEW that Mofa was running well. Could have run him twice if needed and we would have gotten the first down. Also, running DJ 3 times in a row? Not enough men on the field so that Skalski has to scream at the sideline and we waste a TO? Multiple false starts?
I love my Tigers but I find these things to be upsetting and hard to explain. The O line is not great and we didn't have our normal center. This can account for some of the issues, but the above mentioned things are just kind of inexplicable to me. Pitt is going to be tough.

and I thought that the blown snap over DJ’s head was crushing. We were marching down the field and that single-handily stopped the drive… I went insane.

Not sure about a blowout but I agree they didn't run nearly enough with Pace and Mafah. Only 23 carries between them...

I'll bet there are 'cuse fans that are saying the same thing. Maybe not 3 or 4 plays from a blowout, but 3 or 4 plays from a win.
