14-1 gets us mid-teen rankings ?
I realize our expectations weren't super high in the preseason from an the expert's POV , but we have played very well and our prosperity on the mound has been a pleasant surprise.
Should we be considered a Top 10 team right now ?
Honest question.

No. Early season rankings are biased upon the previous years success. Which is stupid because last years team is a whole different team than this years. But lots of unproven guys.

I agree , but a month in and we are actually playing really good baseball. all over the place. Young guys stepping up.
I am not complaining about our ranking but I think I'd jave us around 9 or 10 at this juncture.

SC Upstate, SC and College of Charleston are the only teams we've played with a winning record. Upstate is the only one that isn't barely over .500

The baseball season is too long with meaningless games. At least so far this year, we are winning those games.

If not a top 10, just outside. I have never understood college baseball rankings. If we keep winning, it should take care of itself

Few observations about our baseball team.
Definitely better than last year's team from several aspects. Playing small ball a lot better and getting runners across the plate versus last year where they were relying too much on home runs.
Pitching has definitely been a pleasant surprise. Great to see guys stepping up. Bullpen has been good so far.
Need to see how this team responds in games where the opponent does not gift them free 90s. The coots walked us all over the place. Need to see how they generate runs against better competition when the other team does not make a lot of mistakes. Then we will know what kind of team we have.
Hard to compare teams at this time but it was good to see the coots take 2 of 3 from Texas. Not that I like to see the coots win anything but certainly makes our sweep of the coots more meaningful. Couple that with taking 2 of 3 from Northeastern who had just swept NC State and we can say the beginning of the season has been very good so far.
Off to a great start need to keep it going. I think the voters are not yet sold on our Tigers which is fine at this point in the season. Just keep winning and the rest will take care of itself.

In football people would have you believe that the entire top 25 matters.
In reality only the final top 4 matters and the rest is just for bragging rights and weekly conversation.
In reality the polls never matter in baseball.
There are multiple outlets that put out rankings to try to generate buzz and clicks to their respective sites.
If you look at the end of the year, the rankings will likely be different in a lot of places from who gets regional hosts and how the seeding goes for the 2s as well.
There will be unranked 2 seeds while there may be a ranked team that gets a 3 seed.
My preferred ranking is D1 baseball because they typically offer a pretty good rationale and write up on each team in their rankings and whether they are trending up or down based on upcoming opponents.

As many have pointed out- 14-1 is great start. How many are really good wins right now>
Other than the sweep of the chickens- that was a meaningless game. They seem to be as bad this year in baseball as they are every year in football. You don't want to be a Mississippi St at 10-7 and still ranked - DO we?
