As the offense improves and stays on the field, those guys (defense) numbers are gonna be off the charts good. I wish we could a mustered a few 2nd half first downs in Athens....that 4th quarter may end up costing them #1 status from a purr numbers standpoint. Defensively this is about as good as it gets.

nice try there. I'm not convinced yet that this defense is really good. We'll see after the next 9 games if Clemson is capable of keeping teams under 20pts per game

I agree with him . Keeping teams in today's offensively slanted times under 20 points may be asking a bit too much. How our defense performed for 3 quarters at Athens and then last wknd , we do possess some talented guys and our future is very bright under Venables.
I wouldn't speculate a lot in life , but this defense in my humble opinion is top 20 easily and maybe even top 10 after all is said and done.
Now I am going to my job ...that I love..... and stuff

The game has become do much like basketball that I wish we could get a point/possession metric. Only goodgood way to compare varying styles imo

Our front 4 is Championship quality. Our secondary play( this includes our Lb coverage) is not very good, Our front 4 puts so much pressure on the qb, that sometimes it covers our db mistakes Teams who can throw the football & protect their qb decently will be teams we will defensively struggle against. Georgia exposed our secondary, & even with our awesome pass rush against FSU, they still threw for over 300 yards with a back up Qb. We continue to have backs/receivers running uncovered in our secondary. It has been this way now for quite a while.Just go back the last several years & you'll see how often this happens. Once again, if not for our great pass rush by our DL they would really be exposed. The DB's do a very poor job of finding the football, that typically results in a pass interference
call.Hopefully at some point,our secondary play will become almost as good as our DL play, & then we'll have a great defense. If UNC can protect their qb, they will put a lot of points on the board, & the game will become a scoring contest. Hopefully our D L will get a lot of sacks & make the qb hurry his throws! Go Tigers!
