We found tickets, now just looking for advice

I'm the guy who was looking for the Tiger fan we met in Raleigh. Unfortunately, no luck in that regard, but we're ready to go otherwise. Will be getting into town Friday afternoon.
Obviously hit up the Esso. What else should we see, where should we go? Any advice on gameday parking/transportation/tailgating/traditions/dining/bars? Looking forward to the trip. Funny how things change in CFB (FSU). Even though the game doesn't have as much flash as originally thought, we're still looking forward to a great time.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I think TBalm is selling parking passes and shuttle service.

I heard he has a really nice white panel van with no windows that he is using for shuttling. There might even be some pre-opened refreshments.

Also, it is said... "TIA in advance"
HTH that helps.

First off, Great win on Saturday. What a scene in Iowa City

Friday, go downtown to Tiger Town Tavern, etc downtown Clemson. If you don't care for the late night College crowd, get there early. If you prefer it, get there later. If you're looking for high end dinner, try Pixie and Bills, or the Blue Heron.
On Gameday, get to your parking space early. Traffic coming into such a small place as Clemson starts backing up the closer to gametime you get. Plus, you'll want to experience Clemson Tailgating which is truly 2nd to none. You'll find plenty of Tiger Fans willing to invite you to their tailgate. PM me about where you're parking and you guys come over and have beer and muchos food with us. We'll be right behind the West Zone close to the stadium.

Thanks! How early is early to arrive? We typically have a lot of 11AM CST games at Iowa, so are used to tailgating at the break of dawn. Friday night may be a late one, so what's the latest we could comfortably arrive without being bogged down in a bunch of traffic?

There's no such thing as too early. Whatever time you get there, I promise there will already be people out there tailgating

Clemson is small town - mostly shops but will be jammed - arrive early
Lots of tailgating so hopefully you find someone to party with
Enjoy and GO TIGERS

- Got to go to the Smoking Pig for d@mn good BBQ on Friday evening!!
- Get in early on Saturday, and try parking near downtown. You'll get a spot for $20-$30.
- It's worth going to TD's, Tiger Town Tavern (TTT's) for at least 1 drink before hitting the ESSO. You can do this Friday night, too. By the way, if you like singing David Allen Coe's "you never even called me by my name",with 200 others then be at TTT's at closing.
- New bar this year called Study Hall is nice and worth a drink too.
- And I don't care what anyone says, Peppinos Pizza is better than Todaro. Both are downtown.

Thanks! I'm assuming there is business and residential/yard parking near downtown? How early?

Parking will be your biggest problem and I can’t offer any advice. Be prepared to walk a mile or so unless you hit a lucky streak! Business/yard parking is not plentiful around campus.
Take time to visit our campus. Clemson is a lot,lot more than a few bars and restaurants. Friday would be a great time to see the real Clemson. Saturday is a zoo but everyone loves a zoo. Right?
This will be the best road trip you make. Of that I am certain. You’ll find clemson much different that NCSU. Let us know how great it was for you.

Congrats on the win! Always nice to see O31O state get smashed! Check out downtown Friday evening and night. If you like BBQ or Oysters you should check out palmettos in downtown. The esso is the place on gameday. As far as tailgating there will be people starting as early as 7 and 8am. Give it a couple hours and it will really be getting ramped up. There is plenty of stuff to do and it will get crazy really fast. Come hungry and be ready to throw back a few cold ones. Hope y’all have a good time!

Any special alcohol laws/rules about walking around? In Iowa City you can't cross a public street with an open container. In Oxford, Miss you can't have beer containers of any sort in plain sight. Liquor is fine though (don't get that one at all).

On gameday tailgating you’re perfectly fine with a open container. Walking around the stadium before the game, technically you’re not supposed to walk up and down the streets with a open container but 9 out of 10 people do it. As long as you’re not acting a fool you’ll be fine. Cops will leave you alone. I always take a couple drinks with me for the walk to the stadium and I’ve never had any issue.

Arriving around 10 am should be fine. Should be some parking spots on College Avenue available for $20 to $30 coming into downtown. Wouldn't be to picky because you can get to close to the actual downtown area and have no options left to park. Hang around downtown in one of the local bars (TTT, Backstreets, TDs, Nicks, Sloan Street Tap Room, etc.) then head to Esso Club early afternoon. They will have tables and TVs set up outside and possibly a band? Great atmosphere!! You will enjoy your day!!!

As soon as you roll into clemson

Take a ride down university drive.. Plug in 206 university dr , seneca sc into your gps to get you there
If it is a nice day and you want to do more than eat and drink...head over to the clemson experimental forest. There is a parking area near 736 old six mile rd, central sc . Take a walk down D A M rd to the isaquenna d a m.
Then head over to 201 oak St , clemson sc apt 16 and drink a 40 on the steps.

If you enjoy college marching bands, you can check out
Nov 7, 2017, 11:55 AM
|
|
the Tiger Band's 30 minute mini-concert/pep rally at the Amphitheater in the center of campus. It is in front of the main Cooper Library reflection pond. This will afford you a good chance to check out some of the campus. It starts at 2PM Eastern (always 90 minutes before the game). Then you can follow the Band that Shakes the Southland down Fort Hill Street to Death Valley.
Hope you have a great time in Tiger Town. I know you will. It is an awesome place.
P.S. Speaking of bands, FSU will probably bring their 500 member Marching Chiefs, so be prepared to hear a lot of the tomahawk chop. Hopefully events on the field limit the annoying repetitive ditty.
