We didn't loose to Illinois...

Oct 24, 2021, 1:23 PM

Bret Bielema threw his o line completely under the bus this week, they were winless, winless, and went into Happy Valley and out lasted the #7 team in the country...

What is wrong with you fair weather fans (aka whiners)? Pitt is a quality program and we did not match up, we have struggled offensively all year but the offense is not what gave Kenny Picket a Heisman kinda day. He played the game of his life and likely got himself some $$$ in the draft. He's a 5th year guy... we have a second year guy at QB that this idiotic fan base expects to be playing like a seasoned veteran. The defense gave up the big plays not the offense.

Uncharacteristic mistakes, mental mistakes, discipline mistakes are killing this team week after week. A prime example is 7 throwing his helmet off after getting the stop when we still had a chance... just handing them the game, here take it... that is on the player, plain and simple.

Unlucky is Spector not seeing the ball on the ground and lighting up the Pitt player to extend the drive... Unlucky is having the linebacker (Carter) at safety in a scheme expecting a play and they run right past him and Kenny Picket drops another dime, which he did most of the game... we drop it they catch it... that is how snake bit this team is right now.

We lost to a team that has a good shot at winning the ACC, could move up to top 10 this week will definitely be top 15...

Some people can’t see the forest for the trees.
Some people can’t see the problem but only the symptoms.
Some people can’t see at all.

Now if that’s not a typical Gamecock response. I suppose you support Brownell All In.

Not expecting DJ to play like a seasoned veteran, just an average college QB would be great

Ok, grade him out.

how many "bad plays" did DJ make?

how many "good" plays did DJ make?

how many good plays did DJ make that someone else made a "bad play" overall...

Far more defensive "bad plays" this week than offensive bad plays ... we let Kenny Picket run for 2 fist downs at the end of the game... secondary got burned twice for scores... 14 points.

The intercepted pass to the Pitt LB for the score was perhaps his worst play of the year... he owns that one. He probably made a bad decision on the interception to Ross, but Ross just fell down he never even made an attempt to get the ball, DJ threw up a 50-50 ball...

How many bad plays is OK? Seriously what is an acceptable ratio of good plays vs bad plays? 90%, 80% ?

Almost unmentioned is that fact that the defense limited the Pitt offense (No 2 nationally) to a score that COULD have been bested. Sure, they made mistakes, but even so, played a helluva game.

Great comments. My thoughts too. We can do without the fair weather fans. It only makes things worse for everyone. These guys want to win. Just too many mistakes and the pressures of making a mistake is keeping them from having fun. They are young. Injuries have not helped us either, but no excuses are wailed out by our coaching staff. It is what it is. We are still one of the very best programs in the Nation and it will show again. I’m still “All-In”

So, Clemson is “unlucky and snake bit”? That’s why this team is near the bottom in offense in the FBS? Teams like UC Davis and Coastal Carolina have better offenses. Call me a fair weather fan if you like, but I’m not going to be like those worm pullers down in Cooterville rejoicing when they beat Vandy by 1 point. Moral victories suck. Best is supposed to be the Standard. Fans are worried because there is something fundamentally wrong with this team, coaching and players. Our defense wasn’t that great, but they’ve been playing their ##### off this year, literally leaving their blood on the field because the offense goes 3 and out almost every time. Take off the orange colored glasses. I’m so tired of self-righteous “fans”.

BTW, Illinois would’ve kicked our ##### yesterday.

worried and whining are different, the talent is there, the execution is not... "fans" thinking they are coaches or the newly minted experts in whats wrong with the team after watching them on TV or at a game without the knowledge of what was supposed to happen and who did or did not do their j-o-b is what gets under my skin. Example, bubble screens require a wide receiver to block... just one guy, get in his way and make sure he does not get to the "bubble" receiver... 11 missed everyone not once but twice... he did not block anyone, did not get in the way... nothing... that is execution, if that is what you have we have to change right? That is exactly what TE did, they stopped calling it... we cannot block, its an effective play even if if it only gets 5 yards it keeps the d back honest...

I get your points and they are valid...

The fundamental issue IMHO is getting all 11 players on the same page and knowing their responsibilities and executing every play, not 1 or 2 of 3...

Mental errors, 3d and 1, procedure on Bockhorst and it goes to 3d and 6 and we punt... drive killers all year on offense...

how long into the season can the "simple" mistakes

Oct 24, 2021, 3:36 PM

continue until they are no longer "uncharacteristic"?

I would argue that it is indeed characteristic for this 2021 version of the Clemson Tigers.

valid, was more talking historically the program has been very disciplined... and yes that is past anomaly and more to trending... whatever the reason they have to shake it off...
