Brownell beat Mike Young a week ago despite injuries and Va Tech having a better roster.

Mike Young nearly choked a 14 point 2nd half lead in the tournament against Brownell. He was bailed out by a bench player drilling a 3 on the last second.

Given Va Tech has beat Notre Dame and UNC, it is silly for you to say Brownell is a bad coach. You don't understand you are making the case Brownell is a good coach if you say Mike Young is awesome.

Mike Young was 16-16 and 7-13 in the ACC his first year in VA Tech and he lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament last year. VA Tech was the 3rd seed in the ACC tournament last year but lost to the 6 seed UNC in the quarterfinals.

This season VA Tech lost to the worst team in the ACC, NC State, a team Brownell beat twice. Va Tech also lost at UVA, where Clemson won by 17.

Mike Young puts his team in position to accomplish things like this because as a coach he doesn't fold in close games like Brad often does - he holds his own (57.8% over last 5 years). Not saying every time out will turn out that way, as we saw last Saturday, but over the long haul those coaches better at closing out games will advance in tournaments while those out of their league will go home.
