We can’t be hypocritical here

Capitalism has made it to college sports. While I do feel like academic sports programs should be regulated, I agree with the supreme court’s decision. I don’t know what the happy medium is, maybe there isn’t one. Maybe the NCAA can restructure schools into conferences based on their donorship and income, so that the poorer schools can still play in a competitive conference IDK.

If that were the case, someone would always find a loophole to be at an advantage. The government should’ve stayed out of this. No body forces a kid into college nor forces them to play a sport. The key word used to be amateurs. College sports as we knew it is gone.

If you disagree with me that makes you a hypocrite. If you have any other view I know what you are. I know the motive of your un-capitalistic reason, you must be a coot.

Agreeing with Dabo and Saban is not being hypocritical. NIL, by virtue of it’s name, is intended to allow athletes to profit from the use of their names, images and likenesses through things like autographs and appearances and advertising. It is not intended to be a pay for play system. The pay comes for off-field activities. If they are going to make it pay for play then just create another professional league but don’t hide it behind the names of colleges.

akin to the baseball minor leagues. The money would go down significantly (like minor league salaries) but the NCAA would need to stipulate that revenues for NIL would forfeit the amateur status needed for participation. Therefore the alternative would be this 2 year D-League type situation. The money is in the names of the schools. Alabama Crimson Tide is why these kids garner 6 figure NIL deals b/c of the alumni that is associated. If it were the Minor League Team (Birmingham Blazers) then the money and appeal wouldn't all be there. Sure you could get paid but it would take years to build up a fan base for a minor league football team.

I never said anything about Dabo or Saban.
The supreme court ruled that kids can make money of their NIL. That’s what these kids are doing. Colleges are businesses too, they make money by filling stadiums. It’s two different situations that have intersected into the cluster we see now.

compensation for all student athlete's would revoke their amateur status which is required under NCAA rules and regs? Therefore the athlete would need to utilize some other league that would free them up to receive payment for likeness in a Minor League or D-League type system? I just don't know if teh NCAA can claim only amateur status players can play for them since alot of schools are public institutions.
The money they're making is not off their names as much as its for the schools that they're signing with. Quinn Ewers didn't make 1 million at OSU b/c he's the greatest player ever.. he made 1 million dollars b/c of the amount of donors/boosters at Ohio State and soon to be millions at Texas. Take away the popularity of the college football fanbase and you'll take away the gaudy numbers. A guy playing for the Columbus Bucko's is not going to pull 1 million dollar contracts like a guy playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Sorry, Run. I had just read another post about What Saban said the two ran together in my mind. But I do agree with Dabo and Saban. I don’t agree wit student athletes being paid just for being on the team. DJ’s Dr. Pepper commercial is a perfect example of what NIL should be all about. Just like Shipley’s t-shirt deal where he is donating the money. Something that they are doing off the field as a promotion. Not just pay for play.

Capitalism has always been there.
The NCAA was a corporation that was extracting excess profits from the labor of their employees. Businesses would love nothing more than to pay their employees as little as they can get away with. Lower labor costs leads to high profits.
