We are going to lose this year.

Been following this for 40 plus years now.
Lord knowis that I hope to eat crow but it's going to happen at least once I think. So the question remains to whom do we lose to?
Conventional wisdom is to FSU, they are the only ones who matches up best athletically. Cook is the biggest monster we will face but it's at home. For this reason I think it will happen on the road if at all.
This brings me to the biggest away games, Miami, USC, and NCST. Of those Miami scares me the most....
Miami is now the biggest game of the season, not because of coach-speak but reality. I am not scared of NCST or the chickens. We will beat them.
Surviving Miami is my best chance of eating crow! GO TIGERS!

I'd like to have that hummingbird. I had a 1973 and had to sell it to help with family bills during my senior year at Clemson. Now I'm stuck with a 2002 00028ec martin.

I wonder how much of your past experiences

as a Clemson fan influence your feelings on the matter. I know that it is rare for a team to finish undefeated and even more so for multiple teams to finish with a perfect regular season. But I feel like Venables and this defense have a chip on their shoulder. I don't see them looking past any opponents. And as long as Clemson shows up to play I see them as the favorite to win. I know it feels like putting my guard down to say it but I think Clemson can win out. I hope you eat a lot of crow but I do understand your reasoning behind your statement. Go Tigers!

I am a Tiger through and through. I am just bracing for the loss and predicting the loss if it happens. We can absolutely win out. We have the talent and coaching like you said. It's just the odds. You need balls bouncing your way too. Go Tigers!

You gotta believe!!
There have been years when i felt that way, but this seems to be a gutsy team. I think they can actually run the table if they continue to play one game at a time and understand that nothing counts more than the next down, the next play, the next opponent. We will be challenged by either Miami or NCSU. I feel certain of that But we will find out just how gutsy this team is.

Most of us were so surprised with our successes in 1981 that

we dared not look beyond each successive game for fear of allowing hopes to run too highly.
That's how I have viewed each season hence, and why I think even Dabo has adopted the slogan that the next game is our most important. A wiser approach, I'd suggest.

There one good thing about your attitude.
Oct 21, 2015, 5:56 AM
|

I don't know exactly what it is but being a pessimist never leaves one disappointed with an outcome. That being said our goal is to win the next game. If that translates to an undefeated season we've reached our goal.
As far as expectations, I expect this team to play with all they have, be sportsmanlike on the field, attend to their school work, obey all laws including moral conduct and be gentlemen at all times except on the football field. I expect the coaches to give it all they have in every area related to our football team and games, conduct themselves as gentlemen except when someone says '#######ing,' and behave in a way that becomes Clemson University elsewhere.
I have dreams, wishes, wants and heartfelt desires for our goals this season and every season but I refuse to encumber our University, coaches and players by calling them expectations.

1988, you summed up my feelings exactly. Also, +1 for use of encumber. One of my favorite words in the English language second only to cacophony. Go Tigers, just win boys, just win.

including by even this old tired Tnet handle. Other than being inaccurate the term encumber was a good fit.

Eh, I doubt anyone who really knows me would call me a pessimist. Judging a man by one post are we?
Besides, how is 11-1 a pessimistic outlook to a season?

If we loose its gonna be to fsu. However the only way we loose to fsu. Would be if we loose the turnover battle. Or we cant stop cook. I believe in this defense. Bc held them to 14 I know there improving every week. But I think fsu cant score more then 24. Clemson should scorevin the 30s on them. Lets worry about miami they are a capable team. Gotta play turnover free football.

FSU has one turnover this year. Continuing at that pace is statistically unlikely. Hope it changes at Death Valley. Miami leads the NCAA in turnover margin. Hope that changes this weekend.

This team when we get behind plays lights out. Against L when we got down....boom,boom. Two quick scores. They answer the bell. We come out the gate on fire. We win out!

I think we go undefeated
Oct 21, 2015, 8:20 AM
|
|
But that's my prediction every year. Homestly, I believe we have a great shot at going undefeated, but the game that scares me the most is NCSU. They can, believe it or not, have a raucous crowd and it will be Halloween. A lot of strange things happen every 7 years or so on Halloween. I'm not being superstitious here. I think it has more to do with crowds being more into games because of the holiday, but home dogs have a surprisingly high (or at least abnormal) win percentage on Halloween.
