Pretty interested in this also. I'll take a stab but honestly can't remember who's back and who left, with all the fan boy (me) jerking around after the bowl game. (KJ I'm talking to you bud lol)

DEs-XT/Mascoll (wouldn't surprise me if it isn't Mascoll though. He's always been solid but never solidified a starting caliber DE to me, and from pictures it doesn't really look like he's been taking his strength and conditioning as serious as he should)

DT-Davis, Ruke, with some heavy rolling in of everyone else. (Got a lot of talent there now with the backups and new kids on the block like Woods)

LBs- Carter, Woodaz, Legacy Kid who's dad played in the NFL, who came on strong last year (for some reason his name always eludes me)

Safety- Phillips, Mukuba ?. (That Mukuba spot is one I could see changing. I was so freaking stoked about him after his freshmen year, to be highly disappointed. I realize he played out of his natural position, but it isn't like safeties are never going to be in man either. He got burned ALL. THE. TIME.)

CB- Sheridan Jones, kid from Mauldin, SC. Can't remember his name either (Guess the Linebacker/fullback ISO runs/stops from college are taking their toll, I CRS lol) just my gut feeling. Pride has come a long way and could be the guy too, just have a better feeling about Lukus! That's his name. Hey, maybe I'm not too far gone yet

Anyone I'm blatantly missing or you disagree with?

Nate Wiggins at corner will be tough to beat out.

Mukuba played hurt most of the year so I would not worry about him as much as normal for a player that has a sophomore slump. Plus, on about three of the plays where he is beat, you can see him immediately talking to the other DBs as if they had that coverage and let it get away. Muse was called out alot on this board but the FS has the curtain and Mukuba and Muse both make a lot of effort to get there even when another has missed the read or just lost coverage.

There was one play against TN where one DB had underneath and turned to right instead of coming with WR to the left. You could see Mukuba's frustration after the play. it was a score for TN so all most people "see" is Mukuba beat for a TD. That WR should have had under and over coverage and forced the throw elsewhere.

For me, I dont really care who starts, but I do hope that we rotate players enough to keep all these guys happy and that they produce. We have a lot of quality on defense.

I want to see Mascoll have a Dodd year. He came in at like 205 and has worked REAL hard to flesh out. Dabo raves about his motor and he seems to make plays in limited opportunities so I could see him taking a step up. Would be nice for him. I think he is quick enough to play LB at the next level, but not sure about how fast he is.

Good Morning Tigers - have a nice day

I knew there would be someone blatantly obvious. Totally forgot about Wiggins. I actually think he may be the best corner we have as of now. He improved a LOT after wake. With Mascoll, you can see him in the vlog and stuff and he may have the weight but it isn't as well put together as a good DE is going to be. He carries a lot of bad weight which is going to hurt his speed or strength. I remember seeing him on the field thinking he looked good physically, just a little lighter but since then it looks like he hasn't been keeping up.

The LB you’re looking for is Trotter. I think he takes a big step forward next year. Really excited about our front 7.

Our defense will actually be better in 2023. Myles Murphy can't be replaced, but with experience on the back end, we will not get torched in the secondary every play like last season. The starters on the DL will be DT Tyler Davis, DT Ruke Orhohor, but keep your eye on DT Payton Page and Tre' Williams BOTH are very are great players. Also, LOOK OUT for the highly touted freshmen Vic Burley from Warner Robbins, Georgia. He is 6'5 282lbs of pure strength and disruption on opposing defenses. Of course, Freshmen Peter Woods is going to be another player to get into the rotation. We will have the best LBs in the country with Jeremiah Trotter and Barrett Carter being a nightmare to deal with. Wade Woodaz is 6'4 212lbs and gained a tremendous amount of experience last season. Woodaz will be a SOLID LB at his position. The DEs is the one position I'm most concerned about for our defense. XT could have a magical season, because he has the talent to bring it all together. XT will definitely start at DE, Justin Mascoll will NOT START on the other DE spot. The other starter will be Freshmen David Ojiegbe. At 6'4 238, he has the size and the SPEED to come off the edge quickly and be in the backfield. He reminds me of a young Clelin Ferrell. Our secondary, will be better and more disciplined with their coverage. They got caught looking in the backfield all the time, and not rolling down into the proper coverages. Our DBs will be future all ACC Nate Wiggins, and Sheridan Jones, the Safetys will be Mukuba and Mickens. I'm telling you now, JADYN LUKUS will end up being a starting safety before 2023 season is over. He will split reps with Mickens and Makuba, and finally take the starting role. Lukus has NFL speed and skill sets. He just needs LIVE REPS to get him dialed in to recognize what the offense is running. We have a very difficult schedule next season. We will end up playing three top 10 teams when we meet them. Notre Dame and Florida St. will be home games and both will be top 10 teams. We will play South Carolina in Columbia, and when we meet to play South Carolina will be ranked in the top ten, TRUST ME ON THIS ONE..... Anyway, Clemson has all the ingredients to get back to the CFP in 2023. The question is, will we put it all together to make it happen. With the hire of Garrett Riley as OC, I look forward to the 2023 season and the Championships that are coming with it. GO TIGERS!!!!

Yes, Covil is legit. Gonna be a Deandre McDaniel type for sure. He loves to hit

All comments are spot on. Bottom line this defense should be back to top ten if the DE position is solidified. If it is not with the Joes we have then we know that Wes is not the answer at DC.

Pretty darn good 2 deep at most positions as well. Really need a healthy XT and for him to explode this year.

This defense should be improved with the secondary and LBs that gained a ton of experience in 2022.
