Watching this game makes me sad as a Clemson football fan

We are nowhere close to the likes of UGA and a couple of others anymore. Amazing how fast things can change when coaching hires, recruiting, and development fall off. We were very lucky to have an elite coaching staff that stayed together for so long.

Amazing isn’t it.

No. Because it’s not true.

We’re still close, and we’ll be back.

Love the optimism but we are not close

UGA would bet us by 20+ if we played tonight

He means sunshine pumping grandpa. It's obvious to anyone with eyesight how far off we are from UGA. We were blown out by Tennessee's second string. UGA dominated Tennessee's first string. Get a clue.

Are we worse than we were last year? Herbie just said UGA

Jan 9, 2023, 9:21 PM

hadn't been as dominant this year as they were last year. We certainly gave them all they wanted last year, and I expect us to improve this fall. Time will tell!

UGA in the first game last year was nothing like UGA at the end of the year. JT Daniels, who's like a 14 time portal entrant at this point, played against us. Bennett took over and they never looked back. They also found other playmakers. Teams evolve. Are we worse than last year? I think our offense with Cade is better, though not elite, because we don't have elite receivers any more.

Our defense was much, much worse this year than last. That's indisputable. In 2021, we were the #2 scoring defense, #8 total defense, #7 rushing defense, and #34 passing defense. In 2022, we were the #23 scoring defense, #28 total defense, #13 rushing defense, and #77 passing defense, despite playing a harder schedule last year. It's strange since it's largely the same defense, but I think Venables was that much of an X-factor compared to Goodwin.

Our coaching is also worse than last year, without question. Dabo is even more siloed in his ivory tower than last year, where he had Venables who was willing to stand up to him. Streeter isn't qualified to act as a get-back man, let alone a coach. I think Goodwin is okay. He is not even in the same realm as Venables, and shouldn't be coaching at an elite school when he is just okay, but I think he could be successful elsewhere.

They are up by 31 at the half on a team that would kill us

Might be one off those 60+ point games with our secondary and tackling.

Clemson is back now . just when everyone is doubting it

Jan 9, 2023, 8:44 PM

CK2 is generational

and our new freshmen on defense are Program Changers (that's how they talk about the team rn )

However, we still have the same OC, RB and WR coach coming back. We ant winning ? with them calling plays.

Please … we all need to curb the ‘CK2 is generational’ talk.

CK2 will be a fine QB for us one day, but we would be foolish to count on a deep run in next year’s CFP.

Clemson can win big with a very good QB, but unless Vizzina happens to be another of those extremely rare ‘generational’ QBs who steps foot on campus as the second coming of D.Watson or T.Lawrence, then we will not have a generational QB on campus for the 2023 season.

Let’s enjoy what should be another good season in 2023, and hope that all the pieces are in place and our QBs having matured so that we can have a super season in 2024.

Go Tigers!

Bennett will be selling insurance next year but the Dawgs look pretty good.

Ck2 is generational?
Ck2 isn't nearly as good as DW2 or Tlaw was at this stage...

Ck2 looked completely lost multiple times and his football IQ is extremely lacking at this point.

Dw2 and Tlaw were generational talents that could step in right away and be great

Ck2 is a talented player that needs a lot of work and development

Great recruiting only takes you so far.

Clemson has the Jimmy and Joe's, just not the X's and O's.

What’s worse is the unwillingness to adapt. Instead we rest on our laurels and continue to fall further behind the top programs.

Bottom line, we will not be elite until we are nasty in the trenches. I do think Dabo and co focused on that with our next class. We will be just fine…but it does sting a little

Just remember that this beatdown is gonna be a huge windfall for TCU on the recruiting trail. Heard it right here on Tnet. Of course getting stomped in the Orange Bowl won't help much either.

We need an offense like Georgia’s. It’s creative, attacking, and well executed. Ours is nothing like that, even though we have many of the horses. Offensive game planning. No excuses. We need better offensive coaching.

worst part is we have a coach

who has gotten complacent in his job because hes comfortable with job security..its really head scratching how it seems like he just doesnt care about winning at a high level anymore. if he cared he would bring in legit coaches to coach the kids at a high level

Hard to argue the complacency part after the lack of game prep and effort we saw this year. Just went through the motions. Fine with second place.
