Watched the game last night confirming a few things:

Oct 4, 2016, 9:32 AM

1. Marcus Edmond played a great game - player of the game kind of performance. He is a small guy, but he is a sure tackler. His last tackle was a thing of beauty, but was one of many.

2. Van Smith missed a number of tackles and did not play especially well. He needs to learn from Marcus Edmond. Kills shots are nice, but set you up for misses.

3. Jadar Johnson is excellent in coverage. He made play after play in coverage. He has a very bright future in the NFL with his size, coverage ability and tackling. He can play safety or corner.

4. D. Watson missed a number of touchdown passes that were open and some that he completed were not especially good throws. However, he did not let it affect his confidence and continued to make plays when needed. His ability to throw the ball into tight spaces in the red zone was one of the major differences between him and Jackson and a big reason we won the game and they lost - touchdowns vs. field goals. We could have scored 50+ by just completing a few of those open touchdown passes(and Leggett not fumbling at the five). Just like last year, it is taking us a while to get rolling offensively. If we play them again in the playoffs, we win by several scores.

5. We really missed Jalen Williams Saturday as it looked like Boulware and Kendall Joseph played every snap. Williams can play both positions and may have a bit more speed than both of them and could have given both of them some rest.

6. Jackson could have ALSO been called for a personal foul when he hit Boulware in the jaw with the base of his left hand. Those suggesting it didn't happen are incorrect.

7. This offense is going to be a monster in time. Our defense is already a monster. We just got worn out due to all of the turnovers. With only an average number of turnovers, we win by a mile.

ONe other thing:

Artavis Scott needs to take his punt coverage role more seriously. He is too non-chalant on fair catches when he should be readying himself for a fumble.

I think you meant Ray Ray not Artavis on punt returns...

Nope.

Oct 4, 2016, 9:53 AM

Punt coverage. Artavis is #3 and he is a gunner on punt returns.

6b. He also could have received a 15 yrd penalty minimum for unnecessary roughness after the play for kicking Boulware twice....if not have been ejected like the USC player was vs Bama.

That should be an ejection, people with Twitter should make it that gif viral.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Smith is a safety, suppose to serve as support.Edmunds is a corner.Scott is the KO returner--Ray-Ray returns punts. All else that you say seems to be spot on.

I know what position SMith and Edmonds play. I was

referring to their tackling skills and made no mention of their position.

Artavis Scott is a gunner on the punt coverage team. He could have recovered a fumbled Louisville punt return but nonchalantly jumped over the ball and the player instead of coming in under control and being ready.

Somebody should go post that video clip of Jackson stomping on Bouleware over on Cardmarch so those freaking crybabies will ####.

great points -been a while since so many players contributed

I feel like this might be the type of game this offense needed to get back the chemistry they ended with last year. Every offensive player with a significant role on this team (outside of Ray Ray) had a big impact on the game. When Gallman, Leggett, Williams, and Cain are all a featured part of a game plan, you see what happens. The only thing that stopped us was us (D Watson mistimed throws and turnovers.) Even Trevion Thompson caught a low ball on a 3rd down and kept a drive alive.

Special teams finally helped us win a game. And props to Seth Ryan for saving what i think is the third or fourth bad snap hes had to this year and getting the ball down.

Defense is gonna be gassed in some of the bigger games because this offense is unstoppable as a quick strike team and just like Saturday that might just be how the game unfolds. But getting A Bryant, J Williams and working in T Mullen i think they have the depth that it shouldn't be a problem.

I think Van Smith had like 15 tackles or something like that***
