Washington State football coach in a pickle.

Oct 18, 2021, 6:35 PM

I do not talk politics on this board. But, this thread will probably turn into one. I am posting this only as information.

State of Washington has a mandate that any employee not fully vaccinated by 5:00 PM (8:00 Clemson time) today will be terminated. Employees can file for a religious exemption.

Nick Rolovich is the HC at Wazzou. He has not been vaccinated. He has filed for a religious exemption.

The AD has called a "players only meeting" today at 5:30 PM. General consensus is he will inform them that their HC is not allowed to coach them (either awaiting word on his religious appeal, in which case he will be place on leave, or terminated). You don't call a players only meeting to tell them Rolovich will still be coaching them.

Regardless of your feelings about the vaccination or about the Washington law, I think we can all agree that this is one of the 5 strangest stories relating COVID and sports.

Note: I didn't post any links here. Just google Nick Rolovich and you'll get plenty.

Well it is a liberal crap hole of a state, so I’m sure he knew it was going to occur. If I’m him, I wait to be fired and sue the heck out of them for breach of contract and get a job in the south. But that’s just what I’d do.

Imagine being so ignorant to think whether someone is vaccinated has a determination as to whether they get or pass along the flu

A lot of these deadlines coming up

Oct 18, 2021, 6:52 PM

a lot of police officers, firemen, nurses, teachers, airline pilots standing their ground. Delta Airlines already caved.

It's going to be very interesting how the courts rule on this. This coach could be a key lawsuit, as he's filed for an exemption and like most of them, the deciding party is dragging it's feet. It is political, no way around that. At least the smallpox, polio, TB vaccines kept you from getting said diseases. This thing?

People can stand their ground, but they will soon look around, and none of the people that were there before, they will be weeded out one person at a time, and they will soon be gone. They will work around the stand folks, but they will be weeded out, employees don't write the pay checks, the owners do, stand, you will find yourself as the last one standing on a slippery slop!!!!

Problem is, a lot of these employers can’t fill or get people to show up for jobs. Depending on where you live, get ready for diminishing service and shelves continuing to empty.

Delta caved. Pilots don't exactly grow on trees

Chicago could lose 40% of it's police force. Just what's needed there. Hospitals are already short of nurses, can't make as much money without them. If people actually stick to their stands en masse, that will end this nonsense. Money talks

gotta get the jab. Doesn’t affect me, but I’ve got some pretty ticked off employees. Nothing we can do.

place? They've been submitted, but have they been formalized? Until that happens, since they've been given the authority as a constitutional work around, no one "has" to do anything. Corporations wanted to do this and the government gave them cover, but nothing is official from the government from what I understand

all I can tell you is we have to be compliant, 100% by Dec. There are situational waivers to be had, but what I understand it that you better have a legit reason, get the jab or find a other source of employment.

Highlights the insanity that is gripping some in the USA

Oct 18, 2021, 7:25 PM

Worse than the pandemic itself, COVID has unleashed the inner totalitarian fetishes among many of those in power positions as they seek to impose their will through threats and intimidation. It won't be long before some of these tyrants demand the unvaccinated be forced to wear yellow armbands so they can be easily identified as the "unclean" in our society from which point they will be denied employment, access to stores, medical treatment, and a total subversion of their inalienable rights.

In NYC a Manhattan judge has suspended a father's visits with his daughter because he is unvaccinated. Never mind the father has already had COVID and has natural immunity. Firefighters, policeman, nurses and other medical workers are all being threatened with losing their jobs because of the "unvaccinated" stigma being placed on them. Most of these workers have had COVID and have natural immunity from their service in helping other COVID infected people when there was no vaccine. Treating these people as reprobates who must be punished by the ruling totalitarians is downright disgraceful.

To be clear, I am a proponent of the COVID vaccine - have gotten the jab myself. But as we have seen, the jab does not prevent large swaths of the population from getting COVID, nor does it prevent a vaccinated "break through" person from spreading the disease. The most effective thing about the vaccine is that it greatly reduces the chances of hospitalization and death from COVID.

A vaccinated person is 90 some percent less likely to pass covid to another person, that is a huge plus for the none vaccinated. None vaccinated people are the ones that passing covid to the ones not vaccinated that are dying from covid!!! So the none vaccinated can just kill each other!!!!

My opinion of the vaccination is that until the majority of Americans are vaccinated, we will not get control of covid, and get a full America back to work again!!!

You can have your opinion. At least you didn’t refer to it as “science”***

But it's ok for Postal Workers and many of the other Government employees like members of Congress and staffs to be exempt from vaccinations per the President. Do as I say not as I do.

Don't forget the illegals coming across the border, they're exempt too. They are also bringing in diseases much worse than covid.

That is true about the illegal immigrants - along with people on welfare and government aid, as well as, people currently receiving the monthly child care tax checks. I say no jab, no enter the country or no government aid.

Social Security and medicare doesn't fall in that category because people paid the government to get that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Umm... we already have a majority of the US population

Oct 18, 2021, 10:03 PM [ in reply to Re: Washington State football coach in a pickle. ]

vaccinated. Even by conservative estimates 66% of the US population has had at least one shot with 57% having had two shots. Add in all the folks with natural immunity from having had COVID and the number of "protected" people from COVID is likely around 80% or more.

A contagious virus is just going to do what viruses do - spread. To think that a 100% vaccination level is going to eradicate this disease is wishful thinking as it is now a fact that this virus can and will infect even the vaccinated (happened recently to both of my in-laws who were jabbed with the Moderna vaccine). We are going to have to learn to live with COVID just like we do other diseases and the sooner we stop crushing our individual liberties and scapegoating people in our society in the name of some impossible standard of no COVID infections the better...
