He was expected to be pretty good. Unfortunately his freshman season was cut short and he missed all of his sophomore year after having Tommy John. Then he came back on an innings/pitch count limitation his junior year that ended 14 games in due to Covid. As a result, we never got to see how talented he really was. I know he would have helped our 2018 and 2019 teams a lot.

The 2020 team was arguably the most talented team that Monte had. Unfortunately, COVID. The arm talent on that team was "elite" with, I believe, 3 arms drafted in the abbreviated 5 round draft in 2020 (Strider, the left handed ace whose name escapes me, and 1 other I think).

Was not that good at Clemson mostly due to the injury situation. Before he could fully recover from surgery he was gone. I am glad to see him bloom and fully reach his potential.

I watched him pitch a gem against a ranked Coastal Carolina at the Kingsmore. Yeah, we won by the way.
