Want to find out how coots tick? ask these questions...

Nov 26, 2012, 3:17 PM

1. Do you think if USuC was in the ACC they would win the conference?

2. Do you think USuC will win the SEC within 5 years?

3. If the ACC invited USuC to join would you do it?

Lemme tell you how this goes. 1) Of Course we would. 2) Not real sure but think we have a good chance. 3) No way.

The last question sets them up for you to corner them. Really? Why? If you are out to win championships and you feel it is a sure bet you could do it in the ACC why not join? I'll tell you why...because they take more pride in WHERE they play than what they WIN.
Try it out on a coot and see if I'm not right.

Let's be honest. The Coots would have won the ACC last year and probably this year

Why would they want to join the ACC? It is clear the ACC hurts us for reasons discussed non stop on the board. Most Clemson fans would prefer to go to the SEC or a better football conference so your post doesn't make any sense. There are a lot of things to pick on the Coots about but you missed the boat here

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That may be true...

Nov 26, 2012, 4:05 PM

and I'm inclined to agree with you but I am also pointing out the fact that the reason they love the SEC is not the championships. I am pretty sure they are content with the membership.

1. This year - we certainly could, but the ball bounces funny sometimes. I think we are at least as talented as anyone else in the ACC.
2. Maybe - it will be tough, but who knows? We missed our shot by one game last year and this year.
3. No way would I want to join the ACC. We could win championships in the MAC or the Southern conference, but who cares about winning championships in inferior conferences? I'd much rather go and see games vs good opponents just about every Saturday than watch a season full of games vs nobodies. Besides, we get killed enough in hoops as it stands already.

Re: Win the SEC win the NC. Win the ACC,,,I've got nothing.

Winning 1 SEC>than any number of ACC

the ACC blows for sure

Nov 26, 2012, 4:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Want to find out how coots tick? ask these questions... ]

but if you win it there is an automatic BCS bid with that. So while your MAC and southern conference analogy is amusing it doesn't hold that stature no matter how bad the ACC is.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good point.

Nov 26, 2012, 4:37 PM

That wasn't the best comparison.

Re: Want to find out how coots tick? ask these questions...

Nov 26, 2012, 4:07 PM

I'd rather strive to be the best team in the best conference than be the best team in a mid-to-low tier conference.

I guess that's where we disagree.

Winning the ACC presently wouldn't mean a whole lot to me as a fan. It wouldn't be very impressive.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and the automatic trip to a BCS game wouldn't either?

Nov 26, 2012, 4:10 PM

If that is the case why doesn't the SEC secede from the NCAA altogether? With that logic there is no reason to play a BCS game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

See this is gonna be the point...

Nov 26, 2012, 4:44 PM

and honestly its not just USuC fans. NOBODY gets respect from you when you get down to it because you pull a direct comparison to the SEC. That goes for any team NOT in the SEC.

Clemson sure couldn't find a reason to play a BCS game.

The point is, if you're championship trophy is forged from silly putty - what's the reward being BCS embarrassed.

Yes

No

Winning a championship should be hard. I'm not sure why you believe this is a frustrating series of questions for Gamecocks to answer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

winning a championship is winning a championship

Nov 26, 2012, 4:12 PM

whether it is hard or not.

Re: winning a championship is winning a championship

Nov 26, 2012, 5:54 PM

Perhaps I'm unusual in valuing (or perceiving) achievements which are more difficult?

As far as perception: ACC Championship tickets are selling for $4 on stubbhub. I might add, that's $1 less than a BOA Stadium tour with no game. SEC cheapest are going for $299. That difference indicates something about the value.

It is harder to win the SEC Championship then it is to win the National Championship.Just ask Alabama!

Some people would rather compete in the Olympics than win in the Special Olympics.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok that is a fantastic comparison...

Nov 26, 2012, 4:42 PM

anybody have real discussion?

That is like asking a baseball player if he would rather play on a dominate AAA team and win the league championship, or play on a mid level MLB team and have a chance to compete for the MLB title
