that DIDN’T involve Clemson?
Mine was a football game. #19 Florida at #12 Auburn, November 4, 1989. Auburn won 10-7. Fall of my senior year at Clemson, and a few of us decided to take a road trip on an away game weekend. Not sure why we didn’t travel a similar distance to Chapel Hill to watch our game; I was just along for the party.
Realizing that not many people go to football games that don’t involve their team, maybe it was an ACC or NCAA basketball tournament game, or a CWS or regional tournament game in baseball.or maybe you live in near a good program or venue in college football and we’re curious.
Curious to hear people’s stories.

Same, I lived a block from off peachtree/piedmont. We got to see the marathon, the cycling races, the torch come by.

I love going to first round (field of 64) basketball regionals and since I’m a Clemson fan that means I mostly have to go as a neutral observer or antagonist to hated teams. If you don’t have a dog in the fight buy the cheapest seat possible then upgrade by getting tix from aggravated fans whose team has gotten knocked out. Admittedly, this was easier before digital ticketing was the standard. Angry fans would throw their ticket books away on their way out the door.

1991 Orange Bowl. Colorado vs Notre Dame in the old Orange Bowl stadium. Colorado won 10-9. Rocket Ismail returned a punt 90+ yards for a score with less than a minute to play but it got called back for a penalty. Great game and the only one I ever saw in the original Orange Bowl stadium.

likely the 2 best teams in the country, but only one would go to the tournament as only 16 teams went then.
Multiple overtimes, final was in the hundreds. David Thompson, Tom Burleson, Monte Towe, Mo Rivers, John Lucas, Lee Elmore, Tom McMillan, Mo Howard.

Maybe the greatest crowd I’ve ever seen (it was the biggest in cfb history at that time). UT was hyped , but then got the beat down…35-6(I think) at half. Spurrier was pretty good that day…so were the UT ladies.
