W t f

How in TF is coot RB Harris being named as the best college football player in the state of South Carolina for the 2020 season off of a 2-8 dumpster fire coot team??? He is receiving the Blanchard-Rogers trophy which is apparently SC’s version of the heisman…..

Travis won it in 2018, Trevor in 2019. I guess they didn't want to give it to the same person two years in a row. Harris is a beast and had a much better year than Travis last year.

Amari had an excellent year. I don't think he was better statistically than Kevin Harris (credit that to Clemson having more playmakers than the coots - Cornell also had a phenomenal year). But why does it have to be an offensive player? I would say outside of Trevor, Clemson's biggest playmaker was Spector or Murphy. South Carolina's was probably that Enagbare guy on the defensive line that did a lot of sacks and forced a bunch of fumbles. I don't know why media outlets always ignore the defense.

Sorry but that isn't even close to the case. ETN had the better season. Harris had a total of about 1,300 yds and 16 TD's whereas ETN had total 1,500 yes and 16 TD's. So not sure where you got Harris had a "much"better season.

Re: W t f

Look, I hate the coots probably more than anyone else here, but you're objectively wrong. Here are the actual numbers:

Kevin Harris - 10 games, 6.2 yards per carry, 1,297 total yards, 16 touchdowns

Travis Etienne - 12 games, 5.4 yards per carry, 1,499 total yards, 16 touchdowns

So per game, Kevin Harris had 6.2 ypc, 129.7 yards, and 1.6 touchdowns
Etienne averaged 5.4 ypc, 124 total yards, and 1.3 touchdowns

You're ignoring the fact that one player had two extra games to build up their stats. Unfortunately, Etienne didn't have a great year last year statistically (it wasn't his fault, but it still happened). He didn't break 1,000 yards, averaging 76 yards a game. Kevin Harris was #7 nationally in rushing yards. Most of his career, he was in the top 3 running backs in ypc. Last year, he was #83. Kevin Harris was #40. And South Carolina played better rushing defenses on average than Clemson.

I feel bad for Etienne. He chose to risk injury to come back and help his school. He was a Heisman favorite. At the time, he had the third highest ypc of any college running back in history (and the highest of P5 running backs, ahead of Felix Jones and Reggie Bush). Unfortunately, a bad offensive line kept the Heisman from becoming a real possibility, and knocked his career rushing yardage down to 15th. He didn't lose any draft stock, but it still sucks for him.

So yeah, ETN is a far better player than Kevin Harris. But you're insane if you think he had the better season last year.

I wouldn’t say that Harris had a much better year than Ettiene. He had 200 more rushing yards, but when you factor in receiving yards Ettienne had 200 more yards from scrimmage and the same number of TDs in a “down” year.

It’s the cancel culture. Even if you suck you get a trophy hence this award. It’ll be interesting to see how he does this year with a full slate of “SEC games” and then getting to face Clemson this year.

Re: W t f

Jul 16, 2021, 7:58 PM

Why did you place quotes around SEC games? Are they not really SEC games?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: W t f

Jul 16, 2021, 9:39 PM

Because the value placed on sec games by some is ridiculous. He played in 10 games. He had 4 games where he averaged less than 4 yards a carry. He had another 2 where he averaged 4.5 and 4.2 yards. Over half of his yards came in 3 games (624 yards). Also his team was 2-8. Can you really say he’s a great player if he can’t even help his team win more than 2 games?

Yes he had a good year but he was not the best player in the state or from it.

There can be no rational justification based on, oh I don’t know, merit for such a dopey move, so it must be a sociology experiment of some sort performed on fans of the athletically indigent schoo in the Midlands.

What even is an award, then? Like the Heisman, it’s apparently not worth much of a fuss if it’s arbitrarily distributed to the unworthy.

Is this one of those trophies that Clemson never heard about but since a gamecock won it, it'll suddenly become a big thing?

Sort of like the Palmetto Bowl trophy, that we owned, but we never knew about until the coots won it twice in a row

Yes sir, to them, it is equal to or better than being appointed the Heisman as long as George Cocaine Rogers isn't in the conversation!!! And honestly, that is what the host of talking sports, on coot radio was saying yesterday, July 15, 2021 somewhere around 2-2:30 pm!!!! I'm sure that other people on the road with me was wondering what I heard that was so funny bc, when a I heard them, I busted out LMAO!!!!

Is Rudolph the first South Carolinian to start as QB in the NFL (even if it happened because of injury)? I can't think of another off the top of my head.

Please grow a thicker skin.

Isn't it a even more impressive season by Harris considering that the team as a whole wasn't very good. He was able to rise above and have a outstanding season anyway.

Frankly, he's a heck of a player and with Lloyd and Harris sharing carries this fall, UofSC should have a potent running attack. That's not a bad thing for the good guys, is it? A healthy UofSC program means we have a chance to beat a quality team at the end of the season.

Look, I get it, and I sometimes have a similar reaction to pro-UofSC news. But diminishing their team accomplishments does not translate into to an amplification of our team accomplishments. UofSC competence and CU excellence can exist in the same universe.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Quality teams don't struggle to win 3 or 4 games.

Jul 16, 2021, 12:21 PM

By seasons end, they'll be dragging down Clemson's SOS ranking as usual.

No way will they be a quality team this year. They may go 6-6 if literally everything goes well. But Harris is a really good football player and had a better season than any of Clemson's offensive players others than Trevor.

Either you’re trolling or a USC fan or both. Surely you don’t believe what you just wrote. There were two tigers who were in the top 10 finalist for the Heisman. This was a pity award.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: W t f

Jul 16, 2021, 7:59 PM

I don't really agree. Trevor was the best player in South Carolina and should have won it again. But if you take him out of the equation and refuse to consider defensive players, then Harris had a better season than Etienne. I don't care about Heisman voting since it's politics, name-recognition, and lifetime achievement. Just look at the raw numbers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know but K-Pop has some serious chops.

Jul 16, 2021, 8:33 PM

Harris is a legit talent and fun to watch when he touches the ball. If he stays healthy he will put up big numbers this year for Cootlina. Will look good for us shutting him down come November.
