VT - good first half

But still plays some pretty good ball. Well coached and athletic.
Good first half.
I like what their coach has to say. Has a tough team and they get the ball in the paint.
Kind of impressed. Especially from a non basketball school.

Yep, too strong for Hoagies. They have only played two games in the last 18 days. Now it's going to be three in almost 28 days.

interesting stats...(did not watch the game)

VaTech shot a little bit better in every category

turnovers were the same

but the Heels' bigs out-rebounded by 11... got 15 offensive rebounds. 2nd-chance point and some timely 3's were the difference

this is not a 'soft' UNC team.

young and very inconsistent, but not soft.

freshmen scored 71 for the Heels against ND and 51 last night

They were subbing 5 at a time, while VT had 4 guys get 30+ minutes each. Their depth is what killed VT, IMO. Mike Young had a good game plan to try and keep those bigs off the glass, but it was unsustainable with VT's roster, plus Carolina is finally figuring out who they are, and we all know the talent is pretty much always there.

No excuses. The Hokies went down swinging to a more talented team. Considering they were coming off a second long covid break, I thought they played very well. Looking forward to Mike Young on the sidelines for many years at VT.

Young is a great coach. i think he is going to do very well there.

from all reports, it was a hard-fought game. looking at the box score again, looks like it was 6 vs 9 - Heels had 9 guys with double-figure minutes

hope the Heels and Hokies can both get some W's next week!
