Virginia v. Virginia Tech

Nov 16, 2022, 3:25 PM

I think it would be wonderful for UVA and VT to go ahead and play their traditional season-ender, and dedicate the night and the game to the students killed in the two heinous shootings that occurred on those campuses, separated by only about 100 miles of interstate. Perhaps it is too soon. But, I believe it would demonstrate that two communities can come together to mourn and honor their lost souls, and to show that more unites us than divides us. Just my two cents. Go Tigers!

the good news is, they both will be sure to consider this

possibility since you posted it here.

Thank you for using the Tigerboard at Tigernet.

We know Dabo does, and I’m sure Elliott started reading it while he was coaching here. He probably still checks in from time to time for our high level football knowledge.

"With our talent advantage, we should have dominated this team. We aren't scoring enough. We aren't rebounding enough, and we are not good at defense. That means something is wrong with player evaluation, player development, and in-game coaching. I don't think any of Brad's hires were the right hire. He went with friends."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, he laughed at your ignorant trolling.

Nov 16, 2022, 11:51 PM [ in reply to Everyone reads TNet. ]

They finished 10-3, #14, despite a barely functioning QB. It was a tremendous coaching to get 10 wins after that start.

By the way, has Brad EVER accomplished 14th, in 12 years?? The DeVoe heroics were the best finish ever, but it wasn't 14th. Thanks to Gabe!

Just a guess, but...

Nov 16, 2022, 3:51 PM

I suspect the game between UVa and VT next week gets cancelled too which is perfectly understandable under the circumstances.

Canceling the game would have no real impact or post-season implications for either team.

You are probably right.

shouldn't end when things get tough. You have to fight back.

As posted in the other thread:

I think that might be a little bit of a tough sell. Whether it has postseason implications or not, it’s a rivalry game. Imagine the uproar if Clemson or South Carolina canceled our game.

I get there are some pretty extreme circumstances here, but I think an argument could also be made that it would help the healing process to get back to some normalcy...especially for those whose careers are coming to an end, to get to play one last game for their brothers who are no longer here.

They were considering cancelling this game too, which is completely understandable. I doubt they will play give the horrific circumstance with their team. Prayers for VA and the families.

Tough, tough situation and there may not be an answer for the game that is really right. I know the Administration and Coach Elliott will make a decision with the help of the players.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Understandable if it's not played - but I wonder if the UVA

Nov 16, 2022, 4:41 PM

guys might be healed spiritually a bit by taking the field again with their brothers.

I can see where they might would. Perhaps something they vote on. I like Noonan idea. Since they're no implications, they could move the game into December and make it a tribute. Then you could have coaches and representatives of each acc school.

Can't forget the mother-effer that ran his vehicle into that crowd in Charlottesville .... taking the life of that young female.

Got to be something people are ingesting thats silently making people do evil things that gets heard loudly in the worst ways.

Re: Not Quite Football Related...But Student Of Virginia As Well ---

Nov 16, 2022, 5:30 PM

They are ingesting something, It's fear of the courts if they do what should be done with kids when they misbehave in a way that a good ole A$$ spanking would correct while they were young enough to learn that the consequences of misbehavior can be unpleasant and/or painful!!!

But parents are now worried about going to jail as soon as their kids tell their teacher that their mom or dad spanked their butts, and it left a whelp on their A$$ cheeks!!! Parents fear raising their kids the same way they were raised, even knowing that it worked for centuries. In the Bible it clearly stated with raising children, spare the rod, and spoil the child. But who believe there is any truth written in the Bible, right!!! I mean the Satan worshipers won the battle over taking prayer out of our schools!!!! :( :( :( Who really believed once we allowed the courts to rule over beliefs, and our lives, that our society was going to be all good bc of it!!!!

My dad had a rule. You will get worse at home if I find out you misbehaved in school. I made sure to avoid that.

He did go to swat me once and I moved my behind and his follow through knocked be breath out of me. He felt terrible about that but I learned taking your medicine is better than trying to avoid it.

The kids in Stalin’s Russia and Hitler’s Germany were taught to rat out their parents. I shudder to think how our country is turning into a speakeasy society. Not hard to understand how some of these kids skid off the rail.

And what do you think the mindsets and motivations are for those poor kids to have to get ready for a game like that? Those poor parents are in the middle of making final arrangements. The last thing they need is to have to deal with something like that right now.

Right sentiment but wrong reaction. May those players RIP and may God provide grace and some peace for those families, players and coaches, the university, and the Charlottesville community.

You’re not wrong. My heart aches for those families and the UVA community generally. As Dabo said, “pure evil,” perhaps driven by mental illness. I too pray for peace and grace.

Honoring the players and families is the right thought but there is probably a better time to do it, i.e. like my some kind of pre-game acknowledgment at the opener next year or something like BC does with the Red Bandana celebration.

I imagine there were other players on the bus that are probably still shaken up from witnessing that horrible moment. I cant imagine they will play the game.
