2022 Schedule

Dec 30, 2021, 4:37 PM

9/5 @ GT in Atlanta (I will assume we don't have a game on 9/10 but that means no bye week the rest of the season)

9/17 La Tech

10/8 Furman (Do we have any business playing Furman?)

11/5 @ South Bend

11/26 Annual Chick'n Kick'n

Home:
Miami
NCST (I hope we put a royal beat down on old Dave D)
CUSE
UL

Away
BC
FSU
WFU

Looks like an undefeated season to me, barring 28 injuries and lack of an aggressive offensive identity.

South Bend will be tough. The rest looks pretty easy. But who knows from year to year?

It will be no doubt. But ND is going to be a huge question mark of a team next year as well. And after watching this year unfold, there's no guessing who Clemson will be next year. Just happy we have 3 cupcakes to work and breakthrough the transition of all the new staff and the QB battle.

As of right now, Boston College, Louisville, Miami, NC State, Syracuse, and Wake all have scheduled games on September 10. All of them are out-of-conference, with the exception of Boston College, who is scheduled to play @ VT that day. The only conference team on our schedule that does not have a game that day is FSU.

So, we are either taking a very early open week, or we are playing @ FSU on a short week, or there has to be some schedule changes made. My guess is that something will get shuffled around so that we end up with a home game in week 2.

After next season Miami leaves our schedule for parts unknown.

Very favorable schedule.

Let's be honest. Even with Kelly Bryant at QB this year we're undefeated and in the playoffs despite all the other issues. We gave away the games we lost. And we were clearly the best conference team the last quarter of the season.

The Georgia game frustrates me the most. Had we simply trotted Potter out to kick long field goals on 1st down after the 2 turnovers we probably would have won 6-3 or 9-3 because Potter hits at least 1 if not both and we avoid the pick-six. But we squandered both opportunities with the INT and DJ taking huge sacks when we were in FG range. We gave that game away and it was devastating to the team and took us almost the whole season to recover plus all the other issues.

If given the opportunity Klubnik could be the starter game one. I'm thinking he's the starter by mid-season unless politics keeps DJ on the field. But KB was a proven highly successful starter and upperclassman and TL earned the job early. DJ doesn't have the clout KB had to deserve being starter if Klubnik is legit.

I honestly don't think last season was a fluke. DJ is incredibly talented and proved it last year. But we see it often where some guys have a ton of talent and play great coming off the bench, but simply can't handle the spotlight and pressure to be the starter. There were some obvious weaknesses in his game last year, but they were brushed off and excused due to injuries. Thus year, however, I saw a QB totally lost on the field. Can't run the option. Slow to process the game. Hot and cold as a passer. Doesn't feel the rush and holds the ball too long resulting in huge sacks, e4specially in critical situations. No quickness or pocket mobility. And not only lacks the accuracy we expected, he locks onto the primary receiver WAY too often. Yea, yea, yea, the OL was garbage and the WR corps was a hot mess with injuries and drops, but DJ was still terrible. Anyone defending DJ is doing so out of blind loyalty to Clemson players and Dabo or they're ignorant and don't know football. DJ simply doesn't have what it takes to be a starter at this level. I was shocked at his lack of football IQ and situational awareness this year. I knew he wasn't the next TL or DW4 coming into the season, but he wasn't even a KB. That was a huge surprise and disappointment.

We play Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in 2022 and Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in 2024.

On October 22, 2014, the ACC and Notre Dame announced details of a twelve year scheduling agreement. Clemson would host Notre Dame in 2015 and 2023. Notre Dame would host Clemson in 2020 and 2022.

On May 11, 2017, the ACC and Notre Dame announced an extension of their scheduling agreement for twelve additional years. Clemson would host Notre Dame in 2027, 2031, and 2037. Notre Dame would host Clemson in 2028 and 2034.

Baring any future changes, out of the 24 years of the scheduling agreement, Clemson will host Notre Dame five times and Notre Dame will host Clemson four.

The reasons why the games are in the specific order they are in is complicated. They had to work around both Clemson and Notre Dame's existing schedules. Plus, both teams like to have seven home games a year. Notre Dame is committed to providing NBC with seven home games to broadcast each year. Clemson hosts UofSC in even years, meaning these are the only years they could travel to South Bend. Clemson travels to Columbia in odd years, so these are the years it makes the most sense to host Notre Dame. Plus, throw in Clemson's other home-and-homes with Auburn, Georgia, LSU, etc., as well as their desire to host one in-state FCS school and one G5 school each year. Plus, add in Notre Dame's alternating series with Stanford, USC, and Navy, plus their other home-and-homes, and it is complicated.

Definitely manageable as far as the home and away games. Obviously ND away should be the biggest challenge. NCST, Miami, and national title contender SC :) at home should be good to go.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hardest games: @ND @BC Miami at home

Dec 30, 2021, 11:25 PM

Mystery : FSU, UL Cunningham factor, NCSU/WF - depends on what they return
