Bryce Young looked pedestrian against Auburn (admittedly the only Bama game I have watched this year). That same Auburn D gave up 21 to the Coots. I know the Heisman is a joke these past 8-10 years but this year's offensive candidates are truly offensive. If I had a vote, I'd probably give it to Kenny Pickett. If he wins maybe we could see his grandkids on stage with him since he's been at Pitt for a decade now.

It’s hard to be a good qb when you have no protection. Auburn was in Young’s face all night long. He had absolutely no protection on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down. He had about as much of a chance in that game as DJ had against Georgia, which is almost none.
The fact that he went 97 yards in 2 minutes to tie the game, on the road against his rival, when it counted the most, says a ton about how good he is. He dropped dimes on that drive after being harassed all game long. If anything, that game vaulted him to the top of the Heisman odds. As a college football fan, it was pretty amazing.

ESPN has to work hard to make up for all those years when Bama didn’t

have a single Heisman winner despite all their “National Championships.”
To them it is a noble calling of the highest order for them to right this unbelievable terrible wrong.

more hypocrisy coming from the prom committee

Jackson lost more games than Watson but won prom king because Watson had better talent around him. Jackson had to do more on his own.
Yet Young is better than Pickett?

I believe Jackson had more overall yardage as well didn't he? I would be more in favor of your argument of Pickett over Young if Pickett was blowing Young away with stats, but they're actually pretty comparable.
Young - 3,901 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, 4 interceptions. Pickett - 4,066 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, 7 interceptions.
Pickett runs a little bit more than Young as he has 221 rushing yards for 4 touchdowns compared to -9 and 2 touchdowns for Young. Not sure the rushing yards are really big enough to make a difference though.
I'm not sure how the stats compare for the other candidates though. It has been a strange year though without a real front runner like we normally see.

Jackson piled up a bunch of his "stats" in the fourth quarter of blowouts of Charlotte and Eastern Kentucky. Watson was on the bench during similar blowouts. Jackson was and is a phenomenal player in college and the pros, but he was not the best player in college football the year he won the Heisman. He did however jump over a Syracuse defender and that ingratiated him to ESPN who in turn hyped the ever living dog crap out of him the rest of the year. Watson also almost beat the darling Bama Crimson Tide the previous year so every chance ESECPN got to downgrade Deshaun they did it.

If I am not mistaken, he was a preseason favorite.
