Vegas?

May 16, 2016, 7:45 PM

So, I have been thinking about going back to Vegas on a trip not centered around Clemson football. While I got some idea while there in January, I am looking for your suggestions.

Best place to stay?
Best buffet?
Best non-buffet restaurants?
Best place to catch a game?
Best place to gamble?
Least smoky casino?
Inexpensive place to grab a drink?
Good ine, pensive place to grab a meal?
Must see show?
Favorite place to people watch?

I dunno....any suggestions? Last time I was there, it was short and sweet. Mostly we ate at a couple of places, saw one show, gambled on the NC game, and that is about it.

What kind of weekend do you want?

May 16, 2016, 8:12 PM

Singles, couples, family, girls trip, boys trip, etc?

My preferences: Stay at Palazzo/Venetian.
- Rooms are huge with extra seating area
- The Palazzo casino is more low key and not bad smoke
- Lagasse's sports bar has great viewing area

Fun casino and good scenery at the Planet Hollywood casino.

Highly recommend the Absinthe show for a change of pace. Can go older school with the dirty hypnotist. Cirque shows always good.

Take time to walk the strip and get off the strip. Ride the bus downtown. Take the monorail to save time/costs for other casinos. Ride a rollercoaster. Rent construction equipment at DigThis. Fly in a helicopter. Hit the pools.

There are a ton of fun things to do there. Hope you have a blast.

If you haven't been to Vegas besides championship game, think about renting a car. Hit Hoover ###, nature, cruise the strip, and even the Pawn Stars location.

I'm not a huge buffet fan, but the one at the Wynn is fantastic. Also Gospel Lunch at Mandalay Bay for surreal experience after a night of partying.

Breakfast or any meal at Mon Ami Gabi (Paris casino) is good people watching and fountain viewing.

Gotta get a reservation at the Bootlegger Italian Bistro

It's a throwback to old Vegas, down near the South Point Casino.

Best place to gamble, obviously is off the strip. I prefer El Cortez in downtown because the payouts are better, but that comes with a cost.. Smoky casinos, which don't bother me cause I'll smoke when I'm gambling if others at my table are as well. Besides that, if you want to gamble and want to at least have a chance of winning, play downtown or at local spots like Sam's Town, Eastside Cannery or any of the Stations casinos. If you must gamble on the strip, I love NYNY or Monte Carlo. The casino floors there are simple to navigate and you won't get turned around and lost in there.

The fireside lounge at The Peppermill is a great place to grab a drink. It has an 80's vibe with the pink and purple lighting, but it's a fun spot and they have the best diner on the strip. If you want cheap drinks, just sit at a penny machine and bet max lines, 1 per line. It's maybe a dollar per spin and get free drinks from waitresses. Always go beer this route because mixed drinks will come to you in tiny glasses with very little liquor.

Best buffet is at the Wynn, however it's $52 each on the weekend. The Mirage and Bellagio also have good buffets.

I'm going to Vegas in June. Is that too early to place a bet for CU to win it all?

You can place a bet. I did in June of last year. 20-1 then. what are current year's odds? 8-1?

I dunno...but I am willing to place a bet on Clemson. I will be sure to look into it.

If it's a weekend of the Casinos, food and fun, Laughlin is cheaper little Vegas!!!

Best place to stay? I like the Vdara, it's an Aria property and is in between Aria and Bellagio.

Best non-buffet restaurants? We ate at a lot of overpriced places during our trip, but by far my favorite food(and reasonably priced by vegas standards) was Julian Serrano in the Aria.

Best place to gamble? We liked the Aria, Bellagio, and Binions(for poker/blackjack tables)

Least smoky casino? Aria isn't bad

Inexpensive place to grab a drink? Casinos, they'll bring you whatever you want if you're gambling.

Good inexpensive place to grab a meal? Cabo Wabo was good.

Must see show? Cirque de soleil Michael Jackson ONE was awesome.

Favorite place to people watch? Bellagio fountain.
