Floating on a massive wasteland, in the middle of a roach infested swamp. Especially most of the State Attorneys that graduate from there. It's pathetic, it really is. What's sad, is that our State's biggest embarrassment is it's Judiciary and the University of South Carolina.

My thoughts were
1. Drunk - no excuse
2. High - no excuse
3. Dementia - hope not but possible
4. Alzheimer’s - hope not but possible
5. Some other serious illness and he’s on some serious drugs fighting it and he wants to keep it private.
I don’t know what it was, I just know that without explanation it looks extremely bad. If he worked for me his job would be on the line.

I'm sure Caslen is well aware of what would happen to a plagiarizing West Point cadet.
I almost think what happened is couldn't be bothered to write a commencement speech - for Darla Moore Business School - and so he gave the job to a flunky who proceeded to plagiarize. I'd like to think even in his stupor Caslen recognized in horror those words as he was reading them. The flunky very quickly became an ex-flunky, but Caslen can't admit not writing the speech.
