UofSC Kevin Harris

So, I was talking with a Uof fan and the conversation turned to Will Shipley and Kevin Harris. I concede that Harris is a good RB, but man, the Uof fans are obsessive about him. They like to talk like he should be a Heisman candiate and the best RB in teh SEC... I dig a little digging, becuase I felt like his rushing totals from last year were inflated by the rushing defenses he played and the lack of a focus ofnt he passing game by Bobo. Here is what I discovered (all defensive stats taken from https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/24/p2) :

Against Defenses finishing 1-25 for total rushing defense:

Georgia (1)-- 53 yards
Texas A&M (2)-- 39 yards

Against defenses finishing 26-50 for total rushing defense:

Tennessee (41) -- 55 yards

Against defenses finishing 51-100 for total rushing defense:

Kentucky (53)-- 210 yards
Missouri (61)-- 58 yards
Auburn (62)-- 83 yards
LSU (67)-- 126 yards
Florida (71)-- 100 yards
Vanderbilt (91)-- 171 yards


Against defenses finishing 101+ for total rushing defense:

Ole Miss (101)-- 243 yards


Overall, I think it basically confirms what I told the Uof fan. He wracked up a bunch of yards against bad rushing defenses. When he played teams who actually had a pulse agaisnt the run (top 50 rushing defenses), he only had a total of 147 yards in three games (average 49 yds/ game). Again, Harris is good, but he isn't near what the Uof fan base makes him out to be. Thoughts?

The Coot radio is going berserk this am over some back problem Harris the Back is having and they don't know when or even IF he will play. It seems like he has had or needs some "procedure" on his back before he is back. Back to the boards now.

that he had some kind of procedure on his back over the summer and he has not yet received clearance to resume practicing.

I mean he is a top 10 returning back in college football. Yeah SC wasn’t a good team and they had a bad Oline last season but my eyes tell me he’s a good back. Is he Elite? No. Sorry coots he’s not a Elite. Now will he stay a top ten back this season. We shall see. Have a lot of young unproven talent coming up including Loyd on their own team. Still he’s a very good back.
