So the list of OCs UofSC was looking at consisted of Riley and Briles (dont say it ain't so Coot fans). So Beamer hires Loggains the Arkansas TE coach. That was kind of puzzling and insinuates there was some rejection along the way. That is followed by Clemson hiring Riley, followed by TCU hiring Briles.
Now the latest talk from UofSC fans is that Beamer had such foresight by knowing Riley was going to Clemson and Briles was going to TCU, that he hired Loggains before all this transpired and before Loggains could be promoted to the Arkansas OC position and not be available to go to UofSC. Chicken justification at its finest.
#Beamer got his man!

Had a co-worker tell me they actually didn't want to hire Riley because they knew he would only be somewhere 3 years before taking a head coaching job and that wasn't good for program longevity.

That could have some truth to it, just look at how much they hate Spurrier, and he took them to being the best they've ever been in their entire FB history. They don't care to much for short term success.

It does sound crazy that the usuc HC knew what Dabo was planning long before most the people closest to him even had a hint. If Beamer ever gets tired of coaching those criminals at usuc, maybe he should try criminal investigations for the Cootlumbia police department, they could really use his hindsight ability with solving their loaded unsolved crimes cases!!!

it still goes back to total record in the end, and they would have to win the next 20 something in a row just to tie the series. And keep in mind, it was played on their home field until 1959 I believe.

I would think any successful coordinator would have HC opportunities. Maybe their guy will have longetivity because he is not good.
Not sure you hire coordinators with the
mindset of longevity. Bama never keeps coordinators. Good problem to have imo. It means you have great coaches.
