Just watched last 4 yrs of ##### wins over TiGs & their D is

Nov 27, 2012, 1:07 AM

as hard hitting as our 1981 D was..which is saying a lot.

They are bringing it..and we are not! Saying, we better be getting some mean #### guys on D-line, at LB & at DB..or else things aren't going to change a lot for Clemson if we want to win over the Big Boys on a consistent basis.

Fancy O play is OK to some point..mixing it up with passing & running..but D is where the ##### have it over us now.

GoTiGERs...keep plugging & getting better Boys!

Good point. I just realized this loss hit me hard because I had gotten so used to Clemson winning I'd forgotten what it felt like to lose a game... it's been since September since Clemson lost. The last time Clemson went 10-1 or better was 1981...31 years. Not too bad and that hard hitting defense is why SCAR is #10 in the country. You get the luxury of becoming a hard hitting defense when you pass a certain point in personnel (recruiting). Spurrier's had 8 years to do that.

rated higher than ours in Spurrier's 8 years. So please stop this myth that they our out recruiting us.

I don't think that is what he was saying at all. He is saying that Steve has 8 years into building his team, and Dabo has had half that. We are and will get there, and it won't take 8 years. Steve loses 20 seniors this year. His BS and winning over us is over. He won't be at usuc another two years. Replacing spurprick will be a very hard task in the slums at cootlumbia. After badly failing in the NFL. Stevie needed a name rebuilding project, and usuc was just that. He is done there, and he will leave before they fall back into their own cess pool.

So you REALLY believe that Dabo is going to all-of-a-sudden coach our players to like to hit and enjoy contact more? You're right! He has had 4 years now.......how's that working out for us?

'Slums' of Columbia? LOL! Silly boy. I checked Realtor.com yesterday just for the fun of it. There are two houses for sale on SOS's street in Woodcreek Farms. Both list for 3 MILLION DOLLARS! Oh, and both back up to his favorite golf course.

Recruiiting classes- ha! How many 5 stars have done anything vs us rhe last two years. Bruce Ellington has had more catches, yards, and TDs in two games than Watkins, Hopkins, Bryant, etc. combined. i think two 5 star linebackers didn't play vs us (given one may be injured). One 5 star running back in no longer with the team. How many stars did Dylan Thompson or Kenny Miles have? Just my outside opinion, but y'all need to get back to Clemson football- winning at the line of scrimmage and playing defense. I bet Danny Ford laughs everday listening at y'all worrying about snap counts. How many snaps can we get off? What a joke- are you playing in the WAC. Danny said last year in Columbia at the TD club meeting that Carolina would win because we are more physical at the line of scrimmage and have a much better defense. I would bet he thought the same this year. Snap counts- lol.

i'm a clemson fan, i agree about this offense, but i don't

We have been recruiting good for about 10 years now….

Nov 27, 2012, 3:45 AM

Our recruiting started to get better under Bowden, and under Dabo we have consistently been in the top 10-15 in recruiting. We have the players, we just have a bad culture at Clemson now. It takes attitude to be physical. Not one single Clemson player went to defend Ellington when Swearinger taunted him after he made the tackle. When your teammates won't defend you when something like that happens, then the team as whole lacks the guts to be an elite team.

Clemson has lost that rough em up attitude that we used to have. We have fans that sell their tickets to shamecock fans. We have fans that think the Clemson vs SCU game is a family reunion and that they should bring along all their shamecock cousins, uncles, aunts, in-laws, and so on and so forth. We have a fan base that has allowed itself to be hoodwinked by President Barker for over ten years.

Our University President is soft, our AD is soft, our fans are soft. That in turn leads to soft coaches and soft players. Clemson will not be an elite team until the culture is changed back to what it used to be.

Nov 27, 2012, 6:43 AM [ in reply to We have been recruiting good for about 10 years now…. ]

Clemson for over 40 years since my graduation in 1969; however, just by reading TigerNet and viewing our teams' history over those years, I know there is a different culture now. I can't say it's bad, but attitudes about the nature of our success, the ACC, our competition, our rivalry seem different. For example, during my years there most people gave the ACC the cold shoulder, because we knew it stunk even then. We won the ACC title three of my four years, and it was hardly a blip on the screen. The S.C. game was the end-all each year...even the possibility of bowls didn't take precedence over the rivalry. Frank Howard lost four-in-a-row to Rex Enright at S.C. in the early 50's and was paid a nasty visit from Clemson alumni, and (according to multiple sources while I was there) was told: "Lose the fifth...and you'll be run out on a rail!" He won the next three! The coaching staff was fair, yet brutally tough about discipline, training, individual performance. They weren't friends with team members nor did they make excuses for losses. Students, for the most part, looked forward to games and generally stayed throughout...if a freshman, most had no choice but attend and remain!

Blah, blah, blah...I know it's a different era; things change. The fortunate thing for me, however, is the number of posts I read that show the same, determined fighting spirit I remember nearly 50 years ago. What I, also, know is that change is often effected when people rise and speak out...something that we all may wish to reflect upon....

i thought it was interesting what spurrier told the espn

Nov 27, 2012, 7:10 AM

guys about turning scar's rivalry fortunes around in the last 3 years prior to this game.

he said when he arrived there were 'beat clemson' signs all over the athletic facilities and locker rooms. he immediately had them all taken down.

he did not want the season to be about one game; all of the games needed to be important. as soon as scar started playing that way, the clemson game would less of a hurdle.

also interesting that this year marked the first time in a series dominated by uga[43-17-2?] that scar has won 3 in a row; ever.
