I was not aware that the SEC controls the SEC non-conference scheduling. I am aware that SEC schools pay out, on average, 3.5 milllion dollars per year to keep a steady flow of cream puff teams lined up. Bama was over 4 million this year. Frankly, I think saying the SEC is controlling the non-conference schedule is a bold faced lie, made up from thin air, based on nothing but Dawgs fan’s wishes to not look like cowards.
It is rare for SEC teams to play a non-conference road game. Road game meaning, at the other guy’s place. They either play neutral site or at home. It is extremely common for SEC teams to play the who’s who list of doormat teams. If you wanna know who the worst teams in college football are, check the SEC non-conference schedule. You’ll find 90% complete trash and 10% football teams.
Lastly, OU isn’t joining the SEC until 2025, so what’s happening in 2023 had absolutely nothing to do with UGA punking out.

Because the return game to Norman was scheduled after the Sooners join the SEC. Would mess up conference scheduling. Georgia was told to drop the game by the SEC.

Ball State......plus Vandy.Then add in South Carolina(well you do have the occasional hiccup there),Mizzou,GT and Auburn. That is 8 wins before you get out of bed.You then have Kentucky and Ole Miss at home,Florida on a nuetral field, which leaves the meat grinfer game in Neyland Stadium. For a team that leads the country in 5* players...that seems soft. The point being made is that all WE ever hear from Georgia fans and moreso South Carolina fans is how SOFT Clemson's schedule is. I would say ours is every bit as tough as yours, maybe tougher.

Since when is a team's strength of schedule determined by the number of 5-star players? Also, I could do the same thing with Clemson's schedule: minimize it team by team on the basis that Clemson recruits better.

Since the schedule for Clemson or GA would be impossible for North Greenville....that's when. Because it's relative to the quality of the team.
However, what many ignore in the schedule argument is that you can't play the top ranked team in a said conference when you are that team. IE, GA schedule looks weak when UofSuC is on it but the same can't be said in reverse.

Clemson can't help their conference schedule but they are playing two power five tier non-conference opponents with South Carolina and Notre Dame.

It's ok Dawg. I like your posts and you seem inciteful about college football. But, you have to admit that Georgia along with anyone else in the SEC LEAST plays a weak schedule. Vandy, USuCk, Mizzou should all be playing in conference USA. That's half way to bowl eligible for yall. Then throw in the trash that Tennessee has been putting on the field for the last decade and you have 4 easy wins in SEC play. Yes I know that Clemson has been playing in a lesser version of the ACC for a while but the Dawgs should win 10-11 games every year in that sorry league.

You'll get no argument from me regarding the teams you list. Just seems odd for Clemson fans, whose team up until last year has been three touchdowns better than everyone else in the conference (and also schedules their share of cupcakes), go on and on about how easy UGA's schedule is. I can also point to games on Clemson's schedule that easily get them to bowl eligibility. Furman, LA Tech, GA Tech, Syracuse, South Carolina, BC. You think Clemson is likely to lose any of those?

Dude at least Clemson ALWAYS schedules TWO Major Power 5 non con opponents every season even though one is the SEC's SC. Could Ga not pick up another P-5 opponent at least even a bottom feeder one like a Duke or Kansas? It's OK though we know that SEC "Gauntlet" is sooo tough. (Hello aTm and Vandy)

Really not surprised considering that OU and Texas are trying to get to the SEC as soon as possible. Why leave that game in place when it may very well be a conference game either next year or the year after?

The SEC didn't want another black-eye like the Bama - Texas game. Even though Bama won it was not even a sniff close to the spread and was in doubt until the very end. The SEC can see the potential that BV would have OU ready to play D against UGA by next year, thus another SEC OOC struggle and chink in the SEC "cupcake" armor.
IMO, every Power 5 conference team should have to play 9 conference games and three OOC games of which, as a minimum, one has to be a Power 5 team.

His second season at OU AFDAWG not his 2nd game. We all know the last time UGA faced a BV Defense, it was a stellar 3 point performance by the UGA offense.
Assuming OU will be in the SEC West, why couldn't the SEC let the games be played making the OU game at UGA in 2025 a conference cross over game? That way they play at OU 2023, at UGA 2025 and the home and home issue is resolved. It ain't rocket science.
Although thinking about it, this may be part of the Pre-SEC training for OU so they can practice scheduling that extra cupcake each year. In addition, UGA playing OU in 2023 at Norman means less money for the SEC. It just means more (money that is)!

I have no idea why the SEC changed the schedule. I just don't immediately default to conspiracy. Congrats on only giving up 3 offensive points to the Dawgs. You must have missed the end of the game when Kirby chose to run out the clock instead of punching the ball in.
