Two rule “changes” I’d make immediately

(In addition to eliminating a dozen or two changes from the last 20 years but that’s another topic and long).
1. If you go down with an injury you no longer must exit for 1 snap, you exit for remainder of series.
2. If you make any movement pertaining to faking going out of bounds, you relinquish your right to protection OOB for first 3 yards. In other words flag will no he thrown for hits on said player until a full 3 yards out.

Don’t know about whole series but definitely some bigger number like 3 or 5 plays. Both your ideas would be improvements. Maybe add a number 3 that reviews have 1 minute.

Yes, the entire series.

To make sure the medical staff isn't unduly rushed and can take the time to properly assess and tend to the SEC player's "injury." Especially if it's a defensive player and the other team's offense is moving down the field at will. Those "injuries" can be particularly hard to diagnose. It's for the player's health and safety. Doesn't anyone think of the children???

Seriously. If you ever watch Australian rules (which I’ve only done a couple of times) booth reviews are like 30 seconds. Either you see something or you don’t. If it’s not an obvious error, move on.

1. So after the targeting penalty you would have had this guy sit for the rest of the drive?
2. So basically what would your ruling here since DW shifted angels. Was he "faking" going to the sideline?

no, he did not fake like he was going out of bounds. clearly.
plus the idea that a flag would be thrown for an illegal hit on DW4 by Bama is ludicrous.
(there were no flags on either of these, although I think #10 did spend some time in jail after he got out of college. he was not a nice man.)

Oh, I agree with the Bama hit issue, they let 'em play.
That being said, adding language that says a football "move" would then negate a bad OOB hit. Ehh, you would have those (like Ohio State fans) who would look at any directional change near the sideline (Like DW4 adjusting his route has a "fake") as an excuse. The SEC would ignore the rule when applied to their own teams. It would be a mess.

I don’t have a problem with no flagon the helicopter hit. That freaking clothesline still makes me see red though. That’s worse than 90% of the targeting crap they call and it was as obvious he was trying to take DW out. Should have been 15 yards and an ejection on that. No call there but if Skalski inadvertently bumps helmets with someone, he’s gone

Lucky for us, you're nowhere near the rules committee...Rule

#1 is completely asinine and the second rule, letting people hit players 3 yards OOB make the first rule appear well thought out

but you're maybe a little harsh? I think you understand what the OP is getting at though regardless of how well the rule is written.

I agree with a slight change to rule #1: if someone committing a penalty caused the player to come out, the injured player can return as soon as he is able.

I didn't know that #2 was that prevalent. At least not enough to change the rule such that players are potentially physically punished as a remedy. That's bizarre
