Can someone explain what Obama is getting revenge for?

If not, just direct me to Bill Clinton's thoughts on it.

Clinton's speech was just another attack on Romney

Nov 5, 2012, 4:13 PM

both Clinton and Powell simply assert that we'll be better off sticking with whatever it is Obama wants to do rather than detailing any plans Obama has to improve on his first term. It ought to be clear that Obama's first term was less than a success, so what is the substance on which we're supposed to vote for Obama? Just that we know he's reliably liberal? That he doesn't suck as much as the Obama campaign says Romney sucks? It's sad.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nov 5, 2012, 3:18 PM [ in reply to amazing someone could get re-elected on such a campaign ]

"revenge" comment is a big deal. Or a small deal. In fact I can't believe anyone gives a #### of any kind.

It's also telling that the "revenge" comment resonated with you, but all the things Obama has said he'll do in his second term has somehow not sunk in. I guess our brains just automatically hone in on whatever we think is important -- whether it is or not -- and shitcans the rest.

You mean like pass health care reform? Or go into Pakistan to get bin Laden?

Here are some others.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Nov 5, 2012, 3:32 PM

another promise he kept (but now is troubled by it because it hurts his reelection campaign.

How about the "one term" proposition of reducing the deficit?

Unemployment will not go above 8%?

As far as health care reform, do you really believe this is what people were wanting? Probably the most divisive thing he has done. People wanted their health care costs to go down. Instead they have risen SIGNIFICANTLY and we are now enjoying a brand new tax.

He never promised to kill Bin Laden.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-franc1968.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

bin Laden

Nov 5, 2012, 3:43 PM

“What I have said is we're going encourage democracy in Pakistan, expand our non-military aid to Pakistan so that they have more of a stake in working with us, but insisting that they go after these militants. And if we have Osama bin Laden in our sights and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take them out, then I think that we have to act, and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al-Qaida. That has to be our biggest national security priority.”

On the deficit and unemployment, you're right.

franc, you are a day late and a dollar short.

and I realize you have a difficult time being factual, seeing that you believe in talking snakes and all, but Obama did in fact say that if he were given the opportunity, he would hunt down Bin Laden. Read the transcript and leave the fear campaigning to the Mormon.

Lol, you may not have liked it, but as for completing...

Nov 5, 2012, 3:29 PM [ in reply to I've heard what he said he is going to do.... ]

... campaign promises, he's done considerably better than most. He said he'd pass health care reform, a HUGE promise, which he fulflled completely. He said he'd end the war in Iraq, another biggie which he accomplished. Pursue Al Quaida into Pakistan and bring Bin Laden to justice? Check. Has he done everything he said he would do? Of course not. Nor has any other president in history. But pretending he's done nothing he said he would do is silly.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the seas didn't stop rising, for one

Nov 5, 2012, 4:24 PM

I think for some of us (who never liked Obama to begin with) the huge, world-changing, promises made by Obama (or, if not by Obama, then by his campaign) were really irksome. When he turned out to be rather divisive and doctrinaire, and when his major legislative accomplishment turned out to be unpopular, and when the economy didn't improve, we were tempted to say "I told you so." I, for one, would've preferred as a Democratic president the less ideologial Hillary Clinton about whom there could've been none of the near- messianic fervor there was (and still is, to a lesser extent) around Obama.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Does it matter whether he actually said that or not?

Nov 5, 2012, 4:47 PM

It's easy to make up crazy things and lie about them. Name me some actual promises made by Obama that he didn't at least try to follow up on? And as long as we're talking divisive and doctrinaire, maybe you could name a Republican who was willing to talk to him about anything the first four years? Just one?

I personally think he's been just OK, and that he's the lesser of the two evils that have a chance to win. But it is the right wing that made up many of these so-called goals they knew he could not meet.

You people have convinced yourselves of a lot of things, but Hillary Clinton less idealogical than Obama? There's no evidence for that.

You may have to wait a while to see if that one is a lie.

Nov 5, 2012, 5:11 PM

He said it was the moment we started to change. You do realize it will take a generation at least to know whether it was or not, right?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't claim it was a lie

Nov 5, 2012, 5:14 PM

only that self-drunk rhetoric like that was irksome to quite a few Republicans, who are now trying to resist the temptation to gloat over Obama's transformation into a conventional, doctrinaire, politician.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it isn't a big deal at all

Nov 5, 2012, 4:15 PM [ in reply to I think it's hilarious that people think that ]

but it is indicative of the way Obama has campaigned this time around. I haven't heard Obama say he would do a single thing that he hasn't already been talking about the last four years. Heck, he's blamed Republicans for the fact he hasn't already done a lot of this stuff even though Dems. had majorities in Congress and a super-majority in the Senate.

I'll also say that a lot of Republicans feel that high-level Democrats get away with this kind of stuff much more easily than Republicans do. I'm not completely sure that's true, but I also don't think the 2012 Obama campaign has been covered like the nasty partisan affair that it has been.

Re: In reference to your HEALTHCARE

Nov 5, 2012, 4:14 PM

My wife has been working in the healthcare field for over 15 years. The cuts that are about to come down are HUGE. Over the last three years, every year, she has had meetings to cover the cuts that have been enacted each year. The cuts are at the point to where hours have been cut and employees are not being replaced when they leave because their hours have been cut. People don't realize because it has been a slow raise, but each year, peoples amount of out of pocket expense is going up.
