Brownell wasn't a failure.

He just hasn't been a success. At best he kept us from falling into oblivion. At worst, he kept us from progressing to where we could have been at this point.
Brownell is Tommy Bowden.

have parity with Duke/UNC at this point. And I think the folks that did were suffering a little too much from Dabo Fever. Moving our program to the next level competing for recruits against Duke, UNC, and Wake, not to mention the other regional SEC basketball powerhouses, is not going to be as easy as it was for us with football. There's no real differentiator that Clemson has to offer in terms of facilities, location, etc. like we have with football. UNC is basically clemson with its head stuck up its kiester (and no lake).

You are the worst poster on this board. Thus is a Clemson message board for Clemson discussion among fans....we all can't agree on everything and we have different opinions on our tigers...
However just calling ppl coots everytime someone says something you disagree without forming a opinion to add to the discussion is just immature and childish.
Grow up

Wake??? They are having a good year with a bunch of transfers. But to include them in your list of "next level" is just crazy! They had 6 wins last year and one tourney appearance the last decade.

The way OP had us trending we would be there, he wasn’t afraid of UNC or Duke and our teams played like they weren’t. BB teams don’t play with confidence, aggression or joy. To be fair they don’t play scared either they just play very middle of the road, which is what BB is, not bad, not good, just perfectly mediocre.

Interesting you say that. I believe OP's teams were something like 2-17 vs Duke and unc. But at least those teams weren't scared! Who cares about the results of the game! It's all about whether your team played scared or not.

UNC and Duke were a lot better than they are now. UNC was top 5 every season and a National Championship caliber team when OP was at Clemson . This the worst six year run for UNC in a long time. Also, remember OP had to dig Clemson out of the Shyatt years for his first three years. Really only had about four years to work with.

Brad would have Dale Davis and Elden Campbell camped out at the top of the arc setting picks for a 20% three point shooter.

He did manage to beat UNC at UNC, so now we're 1-59 instead of 0-60 there.
So he's got that going for him.

How can Wake hire Steve Forbes, a former East Tenn State Univ coach, and in his 2nd year be one of the top 5 teams in the ACC?
Aren't our facilities equal to or better than Wake's? Is it the attraction of a "big city" environment like Winston-Salem?

It's because he is good coach. Wake got lucky and Forbes hit the transfer portal quickly. That's all it takes.

Tommy's record was 72-45 for 0.615 compared to Brad's 213-161 0.570.
This year, his 12th, he is right at 0.500 if we lose tonight he will be exactly.
Brownell as also been given so much more time and for what? This year?

He was a good hire at the time. He even showed some promise in year one. It fell off a cliff and we are trying to limp back to where we were.
I'm just not interested in hoping a guy can fight and claw his way back over a couple of decades...to get back to the point where he inherited the program. We can just get a new exciting guy. Maybe he fails, but maybe he's THE guy.

Average at best. Not sure who he is comparable to in football but whoever it is was average. Really can’t point to anything of any significance he has done besides being loyal. I expect to win one we shouldn’t and lose some we shouldn’t. Just the reality of his tenure.
