Really rooting for this guy. Came away impressed during his interview. The self-awareness was impressive. He seems really serious about this opportunity. If he can take over for McFadden at LT, out starting OL will look like this...
Leigh - 6'6, 315 (5 star) Tate - 6'5, 325 (4 star) Putnam - 6'4, 315 (4 star) Parks - 6'5, 315 (4 star) Miller - 6'6, 315 (4 star)
This would have to be the largest and most talented OL that we've had under Dabo. Surely they will be able to open up holes for Shipley and Mafah, while also protecting Cade. Right?

I think it is good. I'm convinced that we've had the talent on offense to be a very good one the past two seasons, but that coaching has held us back. Dabo, Elliott, and Streeter all are not good game day coaches in that the play-calling isn't great and there's not as much adaptation (Streeter's also a bad non-gameday coach). I'm not expected Garrett Riley to be Lincoln, but I don't think he's a yes man and I'm sure one of his contract terms was that Dabo had to let him do things his way. If he's even close to his brother, I think we have the talent to blow the doors down in our schedule this year.
And I do think the next 2-3 years are our last big chance before NIL closes the door on us once and for all.

Mayes could start at LG, which would slide Tate to LT Sadler could beat out Leigh for the job at LT Pennington could start at RG, slide Parks to RT, and switch Miller to LT
There's a lot of possibilities. But I'll be rooting for Leigh.

The 2020 OL class has turned out to be disappointing
Walker Parks, 4 star, 50 overall Paul Tchio, 4 star, 103 overall Mitchell Mayes, 4 star, 148 overall Bryn Tucker, 4 star, 286 overall John Williams, 3 star, 385 overall
I remember how hyped we were about this class. We thought this OL class was going to change fortunes for the program. But really only Walker Parks has lived up to the hype.

Agree. Just haven't taken that next step... yet. I still have hopes for Mayes. Definitely a good ,solid #2 . But again, agree on thinking we'd hit on all 3. But some is because we've recruited better the last couple cycles.

It will be interesting to see if we have anybody transfer out since the competition will be so intense. We legitimately have 3-4 guys that could potentially get that 5th spot.

Thomas Austin has stated he wants to recruit bigger linemen than what we have in the past. This should continue in the future.

Either Tate needs to lose 10lbs to get with the others at 315 or the other 4 need to add 10lbs each to get to325. What we want is consistency.

I would prefer Tate, Putnam, and Parks to gain a little more weight if they play on the interior of the OL.

He was one of the top 3 tackles & a 5☆ (projected as a LT) coming out of HS. I hope you are correct and it's also a very reasonable expectation as are the rest of your statements regarding the OL, barring injury—

Dabo seems really high on Sadler, who is repping at 2nd team LT. So it wouldn't surprise me if he ultimately became a starter. Mayes has the experience. Pennington has the size and talent.
I think we should be fine either way. But if Leigh starts, then we can assume he's living up to that 5 star hype.

I think those 2 are better fits as OGs and possibly get exposed against playoff level (DEs)defensive fronts—

I agree Trot. I’ve hopefully, patiently awaited for Leigh’s emergence. At a lesser degree, I also had high hopes for Linthicum at center.
