Trick plays: how many do we have in the playbook?

Jan 2, 2019, 12:26 PM

What trick plays have we seen this season?
Jumbo package, but that's not really a trick play.
Didn't we pass to Mitch Hyatt once and it got blown up?

How many unseen trick plays will we take to Cali and what will they be?

Fake punt to Wilkins is one I've seen in the past.

With HR having spent some time at QB, maybe there's a WR throwback to the QB or something like that in the playbook.

Trick plays are for undermanned teams.

Clemson is not an undermanned team. Which is why I think we have seen fewer and fewer of them over the last few years.

Saban pulls at least one on us every year. I do not believe bama has been undermanned in quite some time. A well executed trick play doesn't have to be from a lack of a better option.

I get that.. My response probably came across as if

there's no place for them. But we've certainly seen FAR fewer of them over the last few years.

Tried the fake FG with Will Swinney dropping the ball

Otherwise really not many trick plays that I can remember. Like another poster said, we've gotten to the point that we don't really need them.

Still fun to see a successful trick play now and then. Dang Bobby Bowden made an art of it.

Holy cr@p, I remember the PuntRooskie like it was yesterday! What was so painful about that moment was every Clemson fan (and probably FSU fan) in the stadium knew we were going to win even though we were down when FSU had the ball. We had such momentum and the crowd was in a frenzy...but all for naught.

I think the other posters are just propagating the rumor "we don't need no stinking" trick plays, which will make them work that much better when we pull one out of the hat!

Why run a trick play when we can beat them straight up without the risk of a trick play.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

B/c it fun for the majority of fans

and the guys who execute it.
