Did schools lay off Trent Pearman because they presumed he was going to Clemson?

Trent did receive other offers (West Carolina & UAB), as well as another Preferred Walk-On offer from Alabama. I don't believe other schools backed off because they figured he was a locked-in with Clemson.

Still, with his undefeated record as a starter, respectable stats as a passer and runner, and being two-time winner of the SC Gatorade Player of the Year, I would have have thought a few more schools would have shown more interest. The only weakness I saw was he only weighs 170 lbs; but, a good weight training program could help with that.

Anyway, I'm sure he'll be a contributor. Welcome aboard, Trent!!!

If he stays at Clemson I see him as a solid #2 at QB depending on who else comes in. If we're talking about 2 or 3 years up the road. He may be satisfied with a role like that.

Maybe safety. Tyler Venables was also a kickbutt QB at Daniel but not quite Clemson level. Shrug
