Transfer Portal questions...

-What player(s) in the portal would start at Clemson if they transferred here?

-What player(s) in the portal would choose to transfer to a team where they would be a backup?

These 2 qualifications narrow down our list of potential transfer signees dramatically.

Two more key questions

How many are seeking NIL money?

How many fit our character requirements meaning a good cultural fit?

By the time these four questions are answered the pool of players would be very small

Dabo said many times.. no 1 is guaranteed a position. recruits and/or transfer will come in and be able to compete for starting position.

Otherwise why would a good recruit come in if there is a freshman starter in front of him? DO you think He automatically assumes he will have to sit 2-3 years.

To respond to your response:

The no guarantee makes our pool even smaller because many portallers are looking for a guarantee of playing time.

We get good recruits to sign with us even with young starters at positions where they know multiple guys will play. For most high school recruits they are willing to accept the idea that they will get playing time early even if they don't actually have the tab as being the starter.

I don't expect to sign another top QB next year if Klubnick looks even close to what people are expecting from him because only 1 QB will play.

being a back-up may be a better option than not having a scholarship or playing at all.

There are a lot of kids in the portal who won't get picked-up and won't be playing anywhere this upcoming season.

As it relates to the portal you can't have a "holier than thou" mentality. The fact is we DON'T have the Best player in the country at every position and YES there are some BACKUPS at other schools that could start at Clemson.
