TP7 Targetting

Oct 26, 2021, 9:23 PM

I was on a plane and the feed kept jumping around in the stream, so I didn't get full context on it. But I thought about it today and found a clip. Doesn't seem that it was called or reviewed. Didn't seem to make a different, but here's the link:
https://youtu.be/44hmYaCijkY?t=983

Interested in counterpoints about why this isn't targeting. I have started to expect that any hit w/ the crown of the helmet is targeting (regardless of the status of the player). Although, I've sort of resigned that it's only what a given crew thinks is a hard hit and the helmet is in the general area of the tackle.

Your talking about the play where not one but two Pitt players hit TP in the head with their helmets? I assumed the replay booth didn’t want to kick two Pitt players on one play so they ignored it.

It looked like an easy call to me***

It was. I understand officiating didn’t lose the game.

The irritating thing is they buzz down on us even on a good clean hit let alone if we do commit a targeting foul. I think there was a TO and commercial break and they chose not to look at it.

Yup, my sentiments exactly

Was was watching the GT game and my buddy (GT alum) was relying on the pedantic definition of targeting to justify the one against us. If that was the only thing that stuck on that hit, it’s more than true here.

What’s extra-insulting is that Saturday’s crew is usually one of the ones representing the league in bowl matchups. So, the ACC thinks they are good.

But thanks for resetting the tone on the refs. This is just to point out that they are bad, not that they are the reason we are.

It wasn’t called because it was done to Clemson and the game had ACC refs.

The ACC figures Pitt has the best chance to make CFP so they cut them some slack.

Good question. I missed that live. Looks like dangerous hits on TP7.

That was text book targeting on both players. I fully expected after the return from commercial they were going to announce both were ejected. But nothing. Not a peep.

I thought it was targeting when it happened

Oct 26, 2021, 10:27 PM

and was sure after the replay. There was even a stoppage of play as the Pitt player was hurt on the play. They had plenty of time to review it.

The play that carries the stiffest penalty in the game and no one can give you a solid definition of what exactly it is

if the teams were reversed they'd have called it on us.

I know I am in the minority but I didn't think that it was targeting. He was a runner so they either had to launch and go to the head or neck area or lead with the crown of the helmet. It was close but I felt like the contact for both players was just below the crown. Like yall, however, I am surprised that they didn't take a look at it.

both guys hit him with the crown of their helmets... all helmet to helmet should be reviewed...

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep...it was not targeting.***
