Tony doesn't seem to be able to make a decision

Dec 9, 2021, 4:59 PM

All these delays seem to point out why we didn't use an up-tempo offense more the last couple of years. Apparently, quick decisions aren't in our OC's MO. That could explain a lot.

He seems to be a very cerebral, thorough, calculating person.

Dabo has called him brilliant. I have no doubt that he is. But he chose engineering as his major for a reason.

His personality and tendencies certainly seem to spill over into his play calling.

Over analyzing is what we call it in engineering world…..

I was an engineer in the chemical plant. Working with stuff that can kill you real quick if you let it get out will make you quite cautious when making those crackulations.

My greatest answered prayer upon retirement was that I never caused anyone any bodily harm due to my actions as a Chemical Engineer in my almost 40 years. You don't realize just how much that daily responsibility weighs on you until, suddenly, it ain't there anymore. :)

I started to post something about this back during the season. He’s an engineer and not naturally suited to make quick decisions, especially when given only partial data…just not in his nature.

He has to decide if he wants to leave his alma mater, leave his job that he makes big $ in, move his family to another state, start a new job at a place I’m sure wasn’t top of his list, etc, etc.

That might take a minute…

When you put it that way, there’s no way I leave Clemson if I am him.

Charlottesville is a great town, close to the mountains and fairly close to the ocean. I'm sure the money will be better. I would move in a minute.

That's quite a leap.

Dec 9, 2021, 5:31 PM

I won't even try to explain all of the reasons why that could be a wildly inaccurate, false generalization, just think about it.

UVA could not commit to one of their own, Anthony Pointdexer, what he felt they needed to invest in to be successful, how do you know TE is not asking for similar things before he agrees to take the job.

Apparently, Virginia’s facilities are among the worst in the conference.
