Tonights rankings and comment from the Playoff Chair

lay out the path for Clemson. And it is only one path. We have to have total chaos ahead of us. Why? Because of the comment "College football is looking for judgement. And for Clemson, that Notre Dame game continues to be a subject of conversation." Or something to that effect. So, for us to have a legitimate shot to overcome that, I think ALL of the following have to happen.
1) We obviously have to win out, in convincing fashion against the Coots and North Carolina.
2) Teams ahead of us right now: Alabama will be gone once the conference championships have been played.
3) TCU must lose. Period. Preferably in the Big 12 Championship game, them as a one loss non-champion would knock them out.
4) Michigan must lose to Ohio State, convincingly. A Michigan win sinks us, as Ohio State would still have a shot.
5) Southern Cal must lose, doesn't matter where. Two losses, the Pac-12 is done.
6) LSU must lose. Sure enough, the ESPN SEC Hype Machine has gotten LSU in place to become the first two loss team to get into the 4 team CFP. But, they would have to beat the Dawgs to do it. Will Kirby be willing to take a loss for the conference in the SEC Championship Game to get two teams in? I'd bet anybody's farm that's a covert conversation being had between Sankey and Smart, with Smart not wanting to listen.
So, situation has not really changed from what we thought, but is now clearer. TCU, USC, Michigan, and LSU ALL have to lose now.

You were making so much sense and good points right up until the Kirby-Sankey conspiracy.

No head coach at this level will throw a game.

Not even the Dawgs with Mushchump on their team. Kirby wants to win like the rest of us. Of that I have no doubt.

awake. I don't see that as an actual conversation being had. BUTT, if you think Sankey won't sit in his booth and yell "GEAUX Tigers!" in his mind all night long during the SEC Championship Game, then you don't really understand the SEC version of Capitalism.

I'm quite sure the Commissioner would like to get as many SEC teams as possible in the playoffs. I'll bet the B1G Commissioner feels the same way (B1G Capitalism).

#6 is just dumb but I give you 1-4. If TCU loses it doesn't matter whether USC loses or not because it could be Georgia, Ohio State, USC and Clemson easily.

They all lose and we’re 3 - tonight’s poll changes nothing

More losses coming - we just need to win. Wins by FSU,UL, WF and Miami this weekend would also boost our cause. Why? FSU and UL move up. WF at 8-4 May squeak in. Miami finishes 6-6 - another .500 team on resume. Better if UNC beats State to prop their ranking back to around 15. There’s a lot going on this weekend outside of just the teams above us.

Agree with all of these except TCU. We are fine if they win out. Need Notre Dame and Ohio State to win this weekend, as much as it hurts to say

Imo the rankings are nearly fair.

The coming two games allows the committee to place the most deserving four at the top.
My eye test shows that Clemson is not a playoff team but is on the verge of deserving. We have sucked all year with only a few glimmers of worthiness. Miami 1st half is a hope and would have shown much more worth had we finished as we started.
We have the opportunity to show our worth in the next two weeks. If we do so I will rejoice. If we suck out loud as we have all season (-1/2 of Cane game) I will not be disappointed or cry foul if we're playing in the orange bowl.
