from a UGAY fan.... who do you guys want to win. Us or them?
Of course they all wanted UGAY to win... But not because we are their rivals.... but because it's the SEC.
They actually think by UGAY winning it helps them.
What a sad an pathetic group of people

I would fully expect them to say that. Just like I'd like anyone playing the coots to win.

WHy wouldn't they want that?

And it can be argued the UGA winning would help them.
Though in terms of true strength of schedule it's a wash.
I don't get into the conference bragging thing, but I understand why they'd want UGA to win.

What?

How can it be argued that a UGAy win benefits them in any way?
I know if FSU was playing usuc opening game, I would rather usuc win. It means more to the post season and big picture for us to beat FSU. I would rather have them lose that game so they don't gain any confidence and also they have the doubt in their mind that they can be beaten. I know everyone wont share my thoughts, but the only reason I would be ok with FSU winning is because usuc would lose, but that would be a consolation prize to me. Just sayin.

To each their own

But they play both of us (just like we would play bth FSU and USC), so the strength of schedule aspect is a wash. However ,while I'm not a conference fan, I do think it can be argued that the better the teams in your conference do (assuming of course you peat them) the better you look by proxy.
I assume then that you will be pulling for USC over UNC? I mean that should be even more obvious since it absolutely affects our strength of schedule. Me? I'm pulling for USC to lose every game possible. Don't have it in me to want them to win.
I can foresee a case where late in the season we'd want them to win for strength of schedule reasons, but I'm not sure it'd br possible for me even then.

My original question wasn't answered... What is the argument for how usuc will benefit from a UGAy win?
I agree with the SOS and the fact that its a wash. My comparison with FSU and UGAy is that they are both divisional rivals that we play earlier in the season. For that reason alone, I would want FSU to lose more than usuc.
I will not be pulling for UNC to lose as they are not divisional rivals and we stand to gain nothing by their loss; plus we don't even play them this year. I will simply go to my golden rule: I will pull for my tigers and anyone playing the coots.

when South Carolina plays UGa the week after Clemson, UGa will be ranked higher if they win...therefore if South Carolina beats them it will be a higher quality win. If Clemson loses they will have a chance to build back up their ranking by the end of the year when South Carolina plays them in November

I think that a CU win over UGa almost assures a gamecock win the following week. College football is an emotional game and momentum matters more than you know. That said, I'm not sure I could pull for the gamecocks to beat UGa if the shoe were on the other foot.

But it's the same result.
I want USC to lose every game they ever play in every sport. No conference bragging needed to then pull for UNC.

I agree that the conference thing isn't needed, but it helps. A win by UNC helps the ACC's prestige and it surely needs all the help available. The same can be said for a UGa win over us, but there's less need. It's in our best interest for every ACC team to win every game they play against an out of conference opponent. To the extent that they grow into 800 lb monsters we can't compete with, then at least we'll be cashing bigger checks because they're generating TV ratings. Does anybody remember how big the Miami FSU game used to be? Dagum wide right.

and enjoy talking to you, but in the end, it's still Clemson, and I still want to see that beaten. I said it yesterday. In general, the Tigers and Gamecocks can agree on one thing: UGA should be 1-1 to start the season.
